Because UCLA defense is even better and Stanford and Oregon have to play at the Rose Bowl this year.
I think dr funk's point is those teams own UCLA historically, so until you show you can beat (or at the very least play close with) them on any field, your's/their's/neutral... maybe the media hype machine should pump its brakes.

You keep using this point that it can't happen because it hasn't yet. Do you realize how narrow minded that sounds?

Especially when you're throwing in the word "historically", as if history has any bearing on the present.

i think you're missing the point.

he asked why ucla is getting all the hype when teams that may be better on paper and have a history of thumping ucla are in the same conference.

no one said it can't happen. funk is just wondering why everyone's assuming it will.

No I understand his point. And I answered his point.

I'm wondering why you continue to posit that history has anything to do with future outcomes?

Because history is all we have to go on and the best predictor of future performance. How is that any less legitimate than blind speculation?

We know UCLA's offense has issues with Stanford's physical defense and that UCLA's defense struggles against Oregon's lightning quick offense.

You can say they're better, faster, more physical all you want, but until we see that all we can say is that the players and coaches UCLA has returning haven't shown that they've figured those teams out yet.  Until they do show that, that's where things stand.

So why then should we assume UCLA will be the team to come out of the PAC?

i think shy tuttle grew up being a miami fan no ? i think north carolina has a real chance to steal him hopefully he doesnt though lmfao

It just sounds to me that you have no imagination if history is the crux of your analysis.

Ain't no way UCLA wins the PAC....

I think the talking heads just think Miles Jack and Hundley somehow make the better than they really are..

All of Funk's points are valid.

Oregon or Stanford will take that conference\

And Hundley is overrated imo

didnt realize the jersey was such a big change. Font, color, size of numbersll diferent. Sleeves very busy.

Not sure if I like yet,

Matthew Thomas may be suspended for the season

Mannnn I knew something was up, Jimbo hasn't even had him in a boot talking about a damn ankle.....how much bud was son blowing to be suspended for the season though???

UCLA will be 3rd to Oregon and Stanford in the Pac. Hundley still gonna throw 40 passes per game and gets his stats but I don't see the Bruins as a whole take that extra leap to be discussed with winning the conference.

It's all about timing, sorta like Mitch McGary. Rumor is he was selected for a random test by the NCAA @ the NCG and failed that one. But again, it's all talk at the moment, so Who really knows

Robinson Therezie is facing the same thing b/c he failed a random NCAA test @ the NCG too

8-4

They'll still probably lose a game to a team they have no bushiness of losing to like IU, Utah, or Maryland.

I could see that as well but we lost a few games last year we shouldn't have and I think between no more Borges and I think the defense will be improved we will win the games we lost last year.

Won a couple games they shouldn't have as well... For as close to 10-2 as they were, they were just as close to 4-8

Cam Sutton will be returning punts for Vols,

Exciting and nerve racking at the same damn time

We can not lose him for any snaps but we gotta win some on special teams

Butch better put Pig or Marquez to field punts. The wideouts can take a loss of a player compared to losing Cam in the secondary.

Quez ain't elusive enough and I definitely Dont get why Pig isn't used in the return game. He did it for 4 years in HS and excelled. *shrugs*

I get it tho, you can't coach being scared of injuries

The D should be improved and replacing Borges with Nuss should help.  But Funk is still there, and it sounds like the OL is still struggling.
