This is completely acceptable. I do it damn near everywhere I go. Nice restaurants and all. The waiter/waitress usually ask if u want something to go

fyi: Their rules state that you cant take alcoholic drinks out of the restaurant. If you want to take it with you just ask for water in a to go cup empty it and use that.

I honestlee never heard of this and I have barely seen anyone leave an establishment with a cup other than a little kid who ordered from the kids menu.
