I don't believe in the Saints reaching the Super Bowl! If Seattle gets home field it's a wrap for the NFC!

Seattle isn't winning the division. San Francisco will be sharpened by adversity. Harbaugh is the perfect coach to weather the storm.

Eh.

I don't see it. The 49ers drafting over the last few seasons has been lack luster.

No secondary help and the loss of Aldon / Bowman will hurt.

Kap has to step up, he had to take that next step in his development.

I don't see them winning the division but the team is too talented to not make the playoffs barring some major implosion.

10-6/11-5
San Francisco added Bethea, Dontae Johnson, and Jimmie Ward. Secondary is a strength to go with T-Brock.

Well Aldon is out for 9 games and Bowman can't come off the pup until week 7. They could struggle early in the season and Seattle could have a good lead for the West.

Factored in my prediction that the Niners don't play Seattle until Week 13, and the first matchup is in San Fran.

Hawks start with Packers, Chargers, Broncos. 1-2 is realistic.

I still find nothing scary about the Packers team as a whole until their defense shows it can stop someone or can stay healthy and then stop someone. I wouldn't be surprised if Seattle does GB like they did Denver in the SB.

The adversity for SF could backfire just as much as it can catapult I think, Champ. Harbaugh has a foot out the door and the tensions with the front office is worse than it ever has been. Could blow up this year if they don't start off hot.

Our backups are capable of filling in for those two imo. They obviously won't be as good but w'ell still be a very good team defensively.

Not to mention justin smith is 35. For all we know the decline starts this season.

Gore is 32 as well.
Hyde is ready. Already adequate in pass-pro.

Did you also factor that they can't win in Seattle?
Denver will Week 3. Sour taste from the Super Bowl. If that's not motivation in a man's sport, I don't know what is. Peyton been dreaming about MetLife on the links.

Chargers is a trap game sandwiched between the opener and SB rematch.

Saints get homefield. I know games aren't played on paper but look at the relative ease they have this year. They have 5 games against teams with Top 10 ranked defenses and 3 of those games are at home. This is the best shot Brees and Payton have to get one more.

Sheesh, they caught a huge break on paper with those 5 outta 7 games at home during the middle && into the home stretch of the season.

Realistically, Seattle has what it takes to repeat but, you know how that goes in most cases. I see the Saints being a dark horse and the AFC having the usual shoe-ins.

Too much parity in football. No element of surprise. Defending champs have it worst, opponents coming for that neck. Teams always show up to prove a point.

A strength? Nahhh, none of those players are getting anyone excited.

All the suspensions and injuries and their #1 issue might be Justin Smith getting 1 year older.

As far as the QBs/defense talk, why not take a look at the stats of QBs who've played with great defenses and those who've played with mediocre ones the last decade? The evidence is pretty clear.

See: Romo Tony.

dude i don't think the back ups will make up for bowman & smith. we're talking about probably one of the best ilbs and one of the top pass rushers in the entire league. it isn't all over because of only two guys but, no, your back ups won't be making up for your two best defenders missing half a season.

it's great that you have faith in the next man up mentality, but losing bowman & smith can't be understated. and that's just a compliment to them as players. aldon smith was a monster.

The safety play will be a strength, didn't say elite but certainly great. Bethea brings leadership, a veteran presence, and SB experience. Reid is one of the best younger, emerging safeties in the NFL. Ball hawk last year in coverage and he cracks. Ward is eager and gets the luxury of learning behind the two.
