Dr. Wecht: Vonderitt Myers was shot 8 times; six from the back

The family of Vonderritt Myers Jr. hired pathologist Dr. Cyril Wecht to perform an independent autopsy on the teen’s body after he was shot by a St. Louis police officer. Dr. Wecht released his initial findings in a news conference Thursday afternoon.

Wecht says Myers was shot eight times – six of those shots were fired at his back, possibly as Vonderitt ran from the police officer.

Wecht showed the wounds in Vonderitt’s legs and said one of the shots shattered his femur.

Wecht also says Vonderitt was shot in the groin and the fatal shot was to the right side of his head between his eye brow and ear. Attorney’s for Myers’ family says the shots are consistent with what eye-witnesses said at the scene — that Myers was running away from the officer.

When asked about the gun power residue Dr. Wecht says ballistics evidence would have to show whether Vonderitt’s hand was holding a gun or near a gun at the time of the shooting.

Autopsy reveals he was shot in the leg and that shattered his femur so he would have been unable to run after that. That and the fact that all the shots were from the back besides the shot to the head which was between his ear and eyebrow which means that was from the side. Makes me kinda question the cops version... If he was shooting at him and continued to pull the trigger when the gun jammed how the hell was he getting shot in the back of his legs and the side of the head. Wouldn't he have been facing the officer which would force the officer to shoot him in the front of his body?
 
I thought Obama was going to repair racial tension in this country? It's worse than ever.

No one man can repair a country that was founded on the idea of white supremacy. The sooner we realize white america isn't going to accept us for who we are the better things will get. We need to start worrying about our own. Going to our own universities, shopping at our own stores, eating at our on restaurants, living amongst our own people. I cant wait to graduate so I can make that move to ATL :smh:

Myers femur was broken, but he was so able to run fill speed while shooting backwards without looking...

Duh.

AKA we just paid a couple Sambos to lie about what they saw...and they haven't come out to talk about it because their stories don't add up and they can't take the heat.  this is just like that one Tapdancer they got to come out and pretend to be George Zimmerman's 'friend.'

Seriously, I expected all of this to happen. The system is completely corrupt and not just because of racist ol tea party republicans either. We need to stop thkining, hoping, praying that some day the system is going to be fair when it NEVER has been. Its like being in an abusive relationship and hoping your significant other gains a conscious and stops beating your ***. Guess what?...Never gonna happen.

We need to fight just as hard as those before us did for freedom, equal rights, etc. Stop blinding electing people based on party lines thinking they give a F about you....because they don't.

I wish I had all the answers and a defined plan, but I don't. However, together I think as a community we could really come up with something that'll have a lasting impact.

Why is this thread about Ferguson a place for you to air your grievances about Obama?  What does the President have to do with this situation?

I didn't air any grievances, I just said I thought the election of Obama would signal a post racial america and all this racial tension would be a thing of the past. That's what was promised to us by the media anyway. As well as many Obama supporters.

I guess I offended you. Sorry. Back to the topic at hand.

How do expect him to undo something built on white privilege/supremacy.

They dont even acknowledge that President Obama is half white. Thats how much they hate black folks in this country.

How do you control Missouri, the last slave state, with 90 % plus white police enforcement rate

Well, there have been lots of comments in here that aren't related to Ferguson. Lots of general anti-cop, anti-white, anti-justice system, anti-America comments that had nothing to do with Ferguson. Why don't you call them out? My comment was in reaction to those.

that's not the point. the point is Obama said he was going to do it but whatever

if he can restore tensions overseas he can do it hear... why worry about tensions overseas if you can't even get a handle on stuff hear. I'm tired of politics.
