I don't think it's a lack of attention that's preventing anything anything from being done. It's a lack of incentive for anyone to care to do so while in serving in office. There could be nothing happening in the news for months and still nothing would get done.

The media won't lead the wave for significant change. They hop from issue to issue. Sandy hook didn't lead to anything. The press was on that for a while and then shifted their attention

Being realistic, look at this thread on NT. Sadly, most of these people are NOT in the minority in America. We can combat for equality all we want, if 60% of the country doesn't even think there's a problem, nothing's going to get done. Part of the difficulty of this is that people are blind to the white supremacy. We're born into it. See it everyday in the media. It's ingrained into our culture. Some of these SWS aren't even being malicious - they're just genuinely ignorant on the subject... as most people are. Hard for someone in office to go hard on some of this stuff when half of America thinks it's all good.
