I missed the premiere, but watched it yesterday.

Looks to be a promising show with a great cast.

Not for the faint of heart though, as the surgery scenes are quite graphic.

Clive Own is great in this as Dr. John W. Thackery.

Think a surgical Dr.House mixed with Don Draper.

Set in the Early 20th century at the Knickerbocker Hospital in New York.

Also starring

Andre Holland as Dr. Algernon Edwards

Watched it yesterday, it's promising for sure.

Btw I sat down with a plate of food to watch the premiere.. never again

Was it good. I probably won't be able to keep up weekly the day of but I plan to catch the premiere and then binge depending how good it is.

Lets see if cinemax can play with the big boys :nerd:
 
I'd give the premiere an 8/10, although the show is breeming with potential.

The pilot tends to always be the slow episode that establishes the plot.
 
What the ****? Is it me or was the camera angles, movements and overall direction just plain INSANE? Much worse for the 2nd ep. I can't believe Soderbergh directed both.

I was with it at first like when they focused on dude pushing back the shade while you could hear the doctors conversation continuing off screen but after that it was too much. **** felt like a pov shaky cam later on and then when Algernon was leading the lady through his maze/dungeon/labyrinth of an office felt like son was in an unfinished tunnel. I did not like how they switched it up at all. I might have to check the 1st ep again to see if I ignored that on the first watch cuz it was hard to ignore with this ep.




Anyway, that was my biggest gripe. The continuation of the story felt a little loose like it could've been longer but it was a good ep. I like the immediate focus and development of Algernon as well as the accountant dude for the hospital who is stealing from them as well as in crazy debt :lol: Like how Algernon is making due at work with what he's got and where he lives when dudes try to press him. Son gonna end up with his own backdoor negro hospital.

Messed up how shorty died in the beginning :lol:

OoooOOOOoooooohh that was some messed up nastiness. I thought all syphillis did untreated was make you go insane, I aint know that **** could cause your nose to fal off.

Anyway, wow Algernon really got his little hustle going on :smokin Liked the ups and downs of it. Seeing him throw down drunk :lol: :pimp:

This accountant dude using dead pigs to fuel the furnance. Son out here struggling. Only a matter of time before he's fired.

No complaints here. Great 3rd ep.
 
I feel bad for Bertie. He's been trying to ask out cute Nurse Elkins but thackery is going to be up in her guts soon.

Anyone watch the post-episode thing? They showed how that doctor's baby got meningitis. His finger / ring got blood on it from the rat bite patient and when he got home the baby had the finger in her mouth.

They made that all clear when they originally showed it. Algernon was like everybody make sure not to touch him so this doesn't spread and while talking he's all mad cuz he's black, dude's hand brushed up against dude's disease infested leg. He had no clue and apparently didn't wash his hand the rest of the day :lol:

I love this show just for Algernon's angle.

Dude is like everything Blacks have wanted in their tv characters.

Son is super educated, speaks multiple languages, flyest clothes, handles his biz and works harder than anyone, and will whoop your *** just for fun.

Plus I was :wow: when I found out his mom was that chicks' maid.
 
Love everything about this show.

The colors, cinematography, writing, storyline and acting are all superb.

Also can't say enough about Algernod, he and Thackery are my two favorite TV characters since Rust on TD.
 
Thackery definitely felt up Algernon's moms :lol: :pimp: Maybe they shoot the fair one next ep.

This is a pretty wild hospital.
