To summarize a young black couple was out shopping and the father had a toy gun he was purchasing. He stopped to check out some video games in the electronics section, when a white couple saw this and seen this as a threat and called the police. The police came from behind and screamed for him to drop the weapon.

As he turned around to see what was going on, police open fire and the young man died from multiple shot wounds to the chest.

Man this stuff is getting out of hand.

A child losses his father, and a young mother losses her husband all because he picked up a toy gun, with the intent of purchasing...but the racist ignorant and stereotype thinking of some white couple end up costing a man to lose his life.

Jesus christ, where is the training that these officers supposedly had. I need more detail, because their isn't enough information in this story. I'm not mad at the couple because they didn't know it was a toy gun. My issue is what dialogue was had between the cops and the victim :smh:

Are toy guns not sold in packages anymore? How is it possible for them to be sold without it?

I think there should be a limit on NT for how many of these news stories we see posted about the same reasons why innocent black people are killed :smh: seeing these stories posted in general so much is really disheartening

The cbs news article claims that he was waving a BB gun that he opened in the store. Still not justified but if he wasn't being an idiot then he'd still be alive.

"He just kept messing with it and I heard a clicking," April Ritchie said.

Ronald Ritchie said Crawford "was just waving [the gun] at children and people...I couldn't hear anything that he was saying. I'm thinking that he is either going to rob the place or he's there to shoot somebody.

"He didn't really want to be looked at and when people did look at him, he was pointing the gun at them. He was pointing at people. Children walking by," Ronald Ritchie said.

:smh: What the hell was he thinking???

Unbelievably stupid.

*edit*

CBS article definitely paints a different picture than that other one that OP had. The latter seemed more gossipy. He should probably switch the link sources.

"Attorney General Mike DeWine has since confirmed it was an MK-177 air rifle:

The weapon was an MK-177 (.177 caliber) BB/Pellet Rifle, manufactured by Crosman. It is known as a “variable pump air rifle.” Police have not released video of the shooting and no confirmation on whether he picked the air rifle up in the Walmart, but they do sell that exact model."

"UPDATE: 8:36 p.m.: Company won't alter policy, helping in investigation
Walmart plans no immediate changes in the sale or display of realistic-looking air guns in the wake of the shooting at its Beavercreek store."

This. It seems like every week it's a black guy getting killed for something but you don't see a thread for black guy invents something that's life changing or something positive.

I understand if he brought the BB gun in the store but he was BUYING IT AT THE SAME STORE. ITS A TOY. what did you want him to do with a toy if not play with it?

Stories like this not being posted in General won't stop it from happening.

I mean.

Its always a tragedy when someone dies unnecessarily. ..but that situation is easily avoidable.
B4 anyone jumps on my a
If he was black...white...asian etc....dont matter.

Theres kids. ..with no guns....doing nothing....thats getting killed.

Family gunna come uppp. Seems cops got there mighty quick... If Walmart was payin the bacon this will be one expensive "mistake" for them.

Leave it in the package. I don't take DVDs out of the case when I buy them at Walmart so why would he take out a damn air rifle?

Look at the title of this thread and read the article. The guy was walking up and down the aisles pointing it at people. I hate to say it but this is not another case of innocent black guy dying by hands of police. Once again misleading title

i dont by that one bit... i believe he had the gun and was just toting it around etc.... and they saw black guy with a realistic looking gun and panicked.

So we are to believe this guy was talking/texting on his phone with one hand... and with the other hand was waving a gun and threating to shoot and kill ppl/children... I mean what was he telling the person on the phone while doing this? Hold on...oh i wasnt talking to you i was talking to these kids im pretending to threat with a air rifle in walmart...lol

similar situation in the bay area. a teen kid had a toy gun with the orange tip removed. asked to put it down and didnt and ended up killed

cops arent firing no warning shots, they out there to shoot and kill if they feel you are any threat

Ok just read the CBS story which contains more detail. First off RIP to that woman who collapsed and died later on :smh:. This article answered my question about the guns being packaged. Apparently he took the gun out of the packaging and was pointing it at children and customers in the store :smh:. If this is true then he brought that on himself.

Not saying he deserved to die, but he invited that entire situation to his front door. The story still doesn't say what the dialogue was between the cops and the victim, only that they told him to put the gun down and then two shots were fired. Did he point the gun at them also? Did he refuse to put it down? Were they too quick on the draw and didn't give him enough time to put it down?

This is what we need to know.
