Yeah man Katy is a trip...
I laugh it off most of the time because some people are so ignorant to the point they are cartoon characters to me. The thing about Katy/Sugarland cops is that they stay on that bs. I have had Katy Pd called on me, while in full postal uniform because somebody felt I was suspicious and not a "Real" postal employee..
Laughed my *** off on that one.
But one really got under my skin. I told a Caucasian lady that I wasn't going to give her mail without here id(standard postal procedure), also I never saw her before in my life and she was really rude in how she asked. It was more off "give me" instead of asking politely. I closed the mailbox door and proceeded to finish my route. I had two supervisors call me on my route asking if I "threatened" her. **** was straight laughable but she called her husband with some bs, captain save a *** story. Her husband proceeds to go to the post office, ironically talks to the only Caucasian supervisor and goes on this long lengthy;
"My wife is just a petite, pretty blonde that means no one any harm", and how he is a pastor and how he tried to ask me a question the previous week, mind you I have never seen these people in my life, but I cursed him out. The kicker is his wife said "she felt threaten" by the tone of my voice when I said"No"and that I slammed the mailbox door and it scared her.
Man I was so angry, I called in the next day because I wanted to do something serious to that house.
Two weeks later they had a package that needed a signature, I ring the door bell and this ***** acts like nothing happen and is all smiles and giggles.
Smh..
I even had a woman not open her door for a delivery, then turns around tells her husband she never received the item. Husband calls into the post office in a rage wanting a refund, blah, blah, blah. So we have special cops that go out to houses when things like this happen because of possible theft, etc. She tells the postal cops:
"She was scared to open the door for a big, black man" but I am in a uniform and in a big *** postal truck..
**** is hilarious..
@Fontaine
Yeah brethren live in the H but born in Cali..
Mom moved us here to escape the madness of Fillmore(SF). Went to middle and high school here and then went back to Berkley for school and moved back to the H about 5yrs ago..

@mugen81 the crazy part to me is i always viewed katy/cypress as a melting pot of people but my perspective has definitely changed as I got older lol

I think first everyone no matter where you come from has to drop that mentality tht the man is holding you down and do whatever it takes to make your community grow but we won't we are selfish.

We are raised to want to leave the hood and never come back. We turn our backs on people once we become a successful.

nothing worst then old people

the thing that eats at me is this lady says stuff like this over the internet and under her roof. But out in the real world shes prolly the most likeable and flat out nice lady to everybody.

I hate closet racist and ignorance....so cowardly and fake.

So damn true bruh. :smh:

Sometimes I just be thinking to myself "I'm sitting here smiling and joking friendly with this person but what if they are disgusted by my me and think I'm nothing more than a nikka? Of course they won't tell me cause they ***** but that's what really bothers me the most".

We just got to go through the motions for right now man. :smh:

Yeah...
But Katy has always been bad from my perspective..
Went/graduated from Elsik High School..
And them boys would come down to Alief on some other **** and it was guaranteed fights popping off in the stands..
Lol..
Houston is a giant melting point, but it truly has always been an under current of stuff that makes you questions things..
The Bay is like that as well. Too many people go out there thinking **** is sweet and encounter levels of "uncomfortability" as well.
It's a universal problem too many people are scared to address until it effects them in a certain form or fashion..

We are raised to want to leave the hood and never come back. We turn our backs on people once we become a successful.

At the same time, when some do make out the hood and make something of themselves let's not act the hood don't try to friendly extort. Call you fake if you don't take care of everybody and their momma.

What people should do is come back to the community and invest in it, start getting **** built.

Black owned small soul food restaurant just opened in my hood a few months ago. Food is slamming and we been supporting the ish out of it. :smokin

Black people really aren't truly welcome anywhere on this Earth but Africa. Europe is racist as s***. Other than maybe the Netherlands.

Always wanted to go to Denmark, Switzerland, Amsterdam or something,
Why would this even come to mind? Why does acceptance have to be based on what color you are? Granted, Yes, I believe racism is alive and well today in society, BUT IT AIN'T RUNNING THE WORLD.. If racism ran the world you wouldn't have seen any changes from the 1600's to now.. I think this thread is irrelevant and a cry for attention that isn't even needed... Sports Industry, Movie Industry, TV Industry, and OUR PRESIDENT.... And ya'll feel like you don't belong? That's BS, ya'll belong as much as any other type of people in the world, but no need to have a thread saying you don't belong..

African immigrants in Europe are much like Asian immigrants in the USA. They usually come from lower class families and have an amazingly powerful drive to succeed at all costs. There are a ton of asian doctors in the USA who are either immigrants or children of immigrants. I believe the same goes for black Caribbean immigrants in Europe. They are 1st, 2nd, or 3rd generation American immigrants with a huge drive for success because it is a brand new opportunity in the First World.

Black people in the USA come from a culture that was systematically kept down in society up until the last 50 years or so. (And some could argue they still are). They were considered less of a person. They were segregated. They are congregated in urban areas, which caused white flight and led to a steady decay due to the lack of financial support in the areas. The unfortunate truth is that most rich people 50-100 years ago were white, and having them move out of an area simply due to racial discomfort has most definitely affected the last few generations of black americans. Obviously that wasn't the only issue, but I feel it is worth highlighting because socioeconomic status is arguably the most important part of why stereotypes can sometimes reinforce themselves.

And most importantly, black American culture dealt with this for 7, 8, 9 generations. It is completely entrenched in the culture. They have always been here, and they are well aware of how society has treated them up to this point and how it affected their socioeconomic status. One might say they feel trapped in an inescapable system that aims and has aimed to keep them down. You don't just live in the ghetto and feel happy about it. Any sort of sign of injustice will be met with a ton of frustration.

I think it was Tupac that said it's like being poor and hungry while trying to get inside of a room where everyone has all the food. And of course, you're locked out and they deny that they have anything special. At first you're probably joking like "Pfft... sure you guys don't have all the food." But then it starts getting more tense. "Yo. Man I know you've got food in there". Until it spills into more violent things. "**** THE PEOPLE IN THAT ROOM. KILL THE ******* SELFISH ****BAGS AND GIVE US SOME OF THE FOOD THAT WE COULD USE TO HELP OURSELVES OUT OF THIS MESS."

And here's the problem with this analogy: the rich white people that DO have all the food don't even notice the angry black guy outside. The POOR white people and the poor black people then turn on each other.

Not mine, but I agree.

If yall dont think racism run the world, yall in for a doozy
I'll raise you one comment on that..

Racism doesn't run the world, but I think we both agree that HATE does..

And it's unfortunate for sure.. But if we live thinking that it can't change, why live?

I don't think it's racism...I think it's fear. Fear of not having enough , fear if change. They are legit fears and those people are right in a lot of occasions. Sports, women, music...the got damn Presidency (my homie obeezy!) 'if you let them in, they'll take over. You want to lose your job to some [racial term]?'

And they should be scared. I'm coming, and ****** like me or not, I'm bringing them with me.

The whites of the past sought to destroy the black man in America for generations to come even though slavery and Jim Crow era were over. They made sure to have all the money/power. Today they hire their own and make sure their children's future is secure. This racial profiling that has been going on for generations isn't going anywhere and like someone said, they're scared of the potential of the black man.

What do you mean America is not for black people? America IS for black people. Black people built it and have every right to it.

So you give me info supporting the fact that black people are involved in society more than the original subject of black people not belonging in America?

I was just trying to say that black people belong... Shoot, any people belong here man... Red, yellow, black or white, doesn't matter...

Minorities are treated like they dont belong in america, that's racism, Slave traders brought my ancestors here to cultivate land stolen from native americans. And then my homelands were robbed of precious gems and mineral, thus turning what would be home into a destroyed war zone wasteland, if you think black people have been afforded the same opportunity through time then you are truly blind to what is happening, no one is treated equal in this country

Honestly this is all I needed to see to almost ignore the post entirely as it gives a rough outline of your knowledge on the subject: "Yes, I believe racism is alive and well today in society, BUT IT AIN'T RUNNING THE WORLD"

News flash fam.. It has for the last couple hundred years. Trans-Atlantic Slavery, Jim Crow, Mass Incarceration, Apartheid, African Colonialism, African Imperialism, African Diaspora, and those are just the blankets, not even breaking it down into even more specific topics.

You're going through life with your blinders on. The concept of race has already spanned the entire globe. Your ideology is ideal, but it doesn't hold up to the current state of the world at all... At all.

I will repeat something my uncle told me and I hope I don't offend anyone.

But he said something along the lines of Asians and Indians, Jewish folks all came to this country after the Negro race (although by force).
But they ALL have more respect from white america than we do. They don't get stereotyped the way we do, they don't get profiled the way we do.

He also said stuff like that will make you want to give up on hope

We need to love ourselves, our features, our history, our culture.

We need to stop giving our money away.

We need to stop idolizing white people.

We need to fully understand our economic power and invest it in our communities.

We need to stop giving every dope thing we do to white people. I know that the allure

off the white capitalist tit is powerful, but we need to stop. Often time we'll ask ourselves

,"Why do white people keep stealing our stuff?", part of that is our fault.

The community needs to call out these "culture vultures", and tell em it ain't cool.

The media and the arts are powerful tools.

We need to establish a Pan-African community.

Also, at the beginning, middle, and end of the day, outsiders are going to think we're

all moronic, savage n-words. We need to stop caring what they think or how they'll regard us.

All we need to do, regarding outsiders, is to prepare for attack and defense.

They are not profled because they are not feared. Media sterotypes asians and such as being inferior, the black man cannot fit the sterotype through the way we have been more physically dominant to the white man (BBC sterotype sports etc) so they paint us as being too aggressive and too strong

I'm going to have to completely 100% DISAGREE with this statement.

Have you ever been over there?

You'd be shocked...

SRS.

That's what I'm saying.

I don't know why the acceptance of the White man is so greatly desired...
