How do you paint mesh or clothlike materials on sneakers?

I really want do customs on these but i have no idea on how to paint the mesh area on the toebox or the sock liner any tips would be apreciated this would be my first try at customs ive done alot of research but no info on painting mesh or anything like that, and id hate to screw up a perfectly good pair of shoes.
