That Phase In Life... Vol. Retiring Sneakerheads

After my younger brother robbed me for about $4500 worth of sneakers and money, I gave literally 0 damns about sneakers in any way, shape or form.

I cringe at the fact that people still line up and camp out and shed thirst moments for shoes. I'm way off that. I'll never look at sneakers the same way again.

I hate sneakers now, actually. I hate the whole sneaker-head, shoe-head, collecting, buy kicks just to stung on IG hype.

Miss me with that.

This probably only further proves your point... but bro woulda caught a fade

24, loved sneakers ALL my life.

Went to jail for a week in 2012

came home and sold all my kicks.

Never been into buying kicks since, the prices are WAY too high and the whole sneaker fad just killed it for me.

It just was never the same in terms of buying and rocking kicks. I still LOVE sneakers but I havent bought a single pair since last october.

1 day i'll get back into the mode, I'm more so into buying old sneakers, I love OG flightposites and Foamposite pro's and select jordans, Im not too much into new sneakers.

CL. You can tell what type of buyer your dealing with. When they get annoying and arrogant I hit em with the "sold it" already. Regret selling my am95 "juventus" though :x

I'm about to put my collection for sale soon. Is going for about 6k on a mystery box type ****.
Some are new some used some nds etc.

Foams Jordan's AF1 Air Max.

I think that's the best way.

Maybe someone has the money and don't mind what they get.

But I don't think I'll have any takers.

i feel you OP

i got kicks i need to sell too

lol i bought the jordan VI spizike.................an i dont even want them anymore

i dont wear jordans, they cool and good quality but im just gonna let em go for a good price to someone who really wants. just funny

I got over a hundred pairs of shoes. But I'm so out of the shoe game that I don't even wanna bother even trying to deal with selling my shoes. It's not worth the hassle of trying to post it and send multiple images to someone who is just interested and ends up flaking on you. I just had a kid not to long ago, I'm just going to pass it on to him.

I have one foot in one foot out. Sold about 5 pairs this past month. I really won't be officially done until after the hare 7s next year but I've trimmed my rotation down a lot. Can't believe I'm finally growing out of this phase(29 years old). I'm not a "dressing better type dude" but my style of dress as well as work doesn't require tennis shoes on a regular

I doubt I will ever stop being into sneakers even if I dont buy another pair again.

Me too.

In my country, almost all Jordan releases are hyped so I came to the point that I really don't mind missing out on some kicks I like. Rather find nice deals on other shoes.

Heck I only copped 2 pairs this year (GTown Questions & Black/White Gloves).

This "sneakerhead" thing is really getting absurdly corny for some reason even though I never associated myself on that lol. Makes me think to shift my interest in collecting Transformers Masterpiece figures.

We'll see.

Sold a couple of pair to fund for the new baby room. Beating a lot up since I work outside all day , gave some away to local homeless shelters. Not really collecting as much but it's hard not buy a pair of vans every once in a while.

I stopped buying Jordans in 09 or '10. The last new Jordans I copped were the Jordan 1 dmp pack. Only copped Nike retros and LeBron that same year and after. Then I stopped for awhile until last year

I retired when i had my son and now with my new born daughter there is even less of a chance i go back.

My final pairs:

2 pairs of Cement IIIs
2 pairs of pure money IIIS
Black panther IIIs
Spacejams
Bred XIs
Concords XIs
Bordeaux VIIs (my favorite cuz they are so comfy and match everything)
Purple Flint VIIs
Flint XIIIs
motorsport Jordan XXIII
Anniversary Jordan XXIII
Spizike Kingz County
3M VIs

I stopped caring about kicks back in '04-'05...

once I was out of HS.

I haven't worn anything but Jack Purcells/Vans Authentics/Espadrilles/Chucks for years.

It's funny now seeing people talk about sneakers on here...

all these weird nicknames I don't eem know what the hell they're talking about

Still have a ton of shoes. Love the 3's and really wanted the ones that dropped this last Saturday. Close to $200 msrp, I passed.

Been slowly getting rid of some of the collection via RIF LA. Couldn't believe how fast my small LeBron collection moved. Good chunk I out in savings. Probably take a trip to NYC with the loot. Still buy shoes on the regular. Just not Jordan's.

Never sold pairs but have cut back in how much I buy. Even in my line of work of coaching and running an athletic facility, I don't have the itch like I once did. Every blue moon though.

selling your shoes is dumb unless youre just selling ones you bought just because you had the money

i sold a lot of my shoes on here, but i still have a lot of my shoes that i didnt want to bounce

real talk, im about to cop a nice lil group of shoes, i figure imma wear kicks until i dont look young anymore

fam, they all get re released... you aint missing nothing.

and if they dont? so what... you tryna impress 18 year old boys as a grown man...?

i dont get the hype if you have a career, kids and mortgage, why trip over kicks?

i told several young cats in my hood that snekaers aint about nothing..

the hot boys in the M6s, Benzos and Ranges aint worried about jordans, they either rock LV, Gucci, Giuseppe or sandals and get the same effect any damn way..

riding clean in a whip >>> clean kicks .... thats the easy way to digest being feind out for Jays or Nike...

^^ his country bumpkin self was on point.. for real

If you have a lot to sell, eBay buy it now option with buyer restrictions on and automatic Paypal payment required is a good way to go. Just let it run and you won't have to deal with too much BS, and the shipping is easier that way since you just do it through eBay and Paypal. Only downside is the eBay fees which eat up around 10 percent of what you make.

You could try to sell some on here, that'll avoid fees, especially if you have niche type pairs like vintage AF1s, AMs, collabs that you'll still get a good price for on here but for stuff like Jordans, foams, lebrons etc... You'll get ALOT of annoying low ball offers and "these still available" type of messages. Every damn day.

I recently started my own purge. There's a lot I'm keeping but I took a more realistic look at what I have and realize I rarely wear most of it. Wear beaters mostly to work and then outside of that it's rare that I'm not out pounding the pavement, so wearing a pair of stiff, heavy Nike retros or something like that just didn't make a lot of sense. Way more comfortable in runners and stuff like that so I got rid of a lot but bought a fair share of runners in the last couple months while trying to not get too caught up in BS and hype.

This hobby has turned into something so huge that it's easy to get too wrapped up in it. They release so much stuff now, that you could easily cop 2 new releases EVERY weekend and still have other pairs sitting around that you feel you missed out on. At the end of a year that's like 100 pairs of sneakers purchased at a minimum and you'll never have the chance to wear them all. Considering it's nearly impossible to buy stuff on release day for anything close to $100 or less, let's just round the numbers down, you easily just spent $10,000 that year on sneakers. You could take half that money and go on like 2 really nice vacations, even overseas. Not to mention the time invested.

I'm always gonna have a love for sneakers it's just one of the things that I have no control over but you just get honest with yourself after a while, like "Am I really ever gonna rock these more than once?" Are these even gonna be worth anything if they just sit in my closet for a while and I end up having to get rid of them? I've been able to spare myself a lot of hassle and extra money just being real and honest about that kind of stuff.

^solid post

I'm kind of in the same zone right now. I've always been into sneakers since I was a kid and started collecting in 2000. I can't believe it's 14 years later and I'm still here lol.
I sold a good amount of stuff when I got married but at that time i didnt really want to sell them, i just had to.
now i have a kid and without really having to say much, things are just different.
i wear scrubs to work and pretty much only wear roshes and flyknits... outside of work i rarely wear sneakers... if i do its usually jordan 1s or dunks. all the bulky retros just dont go with how i dress anymore. as much as i love them, theyre just collecting dust in my closet.
ive been planning on selling off 200+ pairs of sz 13-14 for a while now but i keep hearing about these paypal chargeback scams and that really freaked me out.
if i lived near a flight club or rif i think id just go there and save myself the headache but im in chicago and theres only a couple small shops that do consignments but i dont think they have a broad enough audience to move my size 14s.
were looking to buy a place so itll be nice to know all these shoes just sitting in my closet will go towards a nice down payment eventually.
i dont think ill ever stop being into sneakers but its definitely not as important to me as it once was.
