No Sneaker September vol. #nosneakerseptember #staywoke

i am just as confused

black people buy nike shoes so he wants Nike to listen and help out the community?

Nike has nothing to do with racism or w/e you are speaking of
Nike has everything to do with racism. You don't support or acknowledge the value of your core base= part of the problem.

Instead of spending the money on sneakers, support a local business instead.

It's one less child on the street to be racially profiled.

Though I grasp your argument, I'm asking you to dumb down your thought process.

I'm not expecting for whites and minorities to frolic on the beach Oct. 1... We just want awareness that racism is alive and well. We want our dollars to be valued the same way a white persons dollar is.

You do realize not all white ppl aren't racist ?

The child still has a million chances to be racially profiled.

I totally get and understand that you want to raise awareness that racism still exists. Im just not sure if this accomplishes that goal. Nike isnt the one being racist so their involvement is puzzling.

you realize money is money to businesses right?

And if your argument was for blacks to support black businesses for a month instead of others, you'd have something
Money is money, yes. But, why are we not part of their reinvestments?

And I agree...Let's support minority owned business...I asked for suggestions and help...this is just a start.

I understand the intention.

Just the execution and direction is a tad bit misguided here.
Thats why I made the thread...I'm asking everyone for help in starting a movement.

good effort ed but ive had nosneakerseptembers for like 4 years one time, kicks were not purchased

So there are a bunch of sneaker shops owned by African Americans in Philly; so your idea is to not buy Nikes from them for September?

I admit, I'm all over the place...I suggested sneakers, NOT Nike, just because of the forum.

This thread is for suggestions. nosneakerseptember can branch off into supporting local business instead.

I'm all ears.

Maybe highlight minority owned businesses to support would be a start.

WHO exactly are the minority business owners? Having a list would be great.

your heart is in the right place but your idea to ban Nike for a month is asinine and won't do a damn thing

Are we also making an assumption that Nike doesnt already support black communities?

#nosneakerseptember can be #nobigbusinessseptember, etc. I'm trying to think of ways to bring awareness. This is a sneaker forum so organically it popped up first.
What if the black owned business is a sneaker shop ?
Support them.

Maybe we can not buy from big business locations?

I'm here for help not as the end all be all.

and.....drumroll please.....*cymbals*

the reason why it could fail is cuz of hypebeasts/resellers buying up any **** they try to resell....they probably outnumber us

They have black and latino employee networks, and other minority networks.

Their mission:

Mission: To add value to the Nike business by promoting an environment that attracts, promotes and retains black employees.

I mentioned that in the other thread.

I understand this seems futile but awareness isn't built in 1 day.

Ok. I can honestly respect that. I think my only thing with it is dragging in/capitalizing off of the Michael Brown tragedy. Especially with it not being resolved yet. I think trying to tie in that incident with this movement is what threw people off. This can be a stand alone movement without having to piggy back off of that.

All in all Im not knocking your efforts. Im all for people trying to make a change and cause a rift in the waters. I just think the approach can be sharpened. But like you said thats why you made the thread so hopefully that happens for you.

Shouldnt the first part of every companys mission be to add calue to their own business?

Nike's core base is African American?
Nike's core base is minorities.

I'm 34, and Latino.

I've been subjected to police brutality by both white and my own.

I haven't sided with 1 race..I've always said "minorities"

We still fighting to be equal.

question ed, didnt some african american youths rob some sports store, somes js and nikes in the mb riot?
