FAFSA gotta be ran by Mr. Krabs b'

people don't wanna invest in themselves they just want everything for free

it's the people who live off govt. assistance and do nothing with their life that really piss me off

already got a degree, went back to get another one

you can't get grants no matter what once you have a bachelors degree

Oh i know, ive been going back for a while now. it was more for the loans.

Whenever i do my FAFSA my school always asks me to turn in extra forms to verify the information. I already claimed independent by mistake but the school hasnt received my corrected FAFSA(its been like a month since i edited it smh) so they are still want me to turn in the independent forms. I thought they would ask questions about my income but since im 24 now then i should be good.

 @ the thread title...

Try junior college first...

Then come im with a killer GPA so the school gives you scholarhips

This.

Keep a 3.0-3.5 GPA at the community college around here for 2 years, and you get a full ride to University of Maryland.

I got $2500 in grants this semester. I'm currently in community college part time so that $2500 will cover pretty much everything for the fall and spring semesters. We also have a guranteed admissions program here, if you get your Associates with a high enough GPA you can go to any public VA school, and some in DC. That includes Tech, UVA, and William and Mary.

Claim independent playboy. Did that this year (turn 24 in October #OVO) and 2014-2015 is all being paid for. Refund check each semester is going to be :pimp:

Yeah and wait til you get caught lying

What you just said is stupid. The state gathers my info automatically. From my social security number to my W2's. No one can lie on the fafsa smart guy.

Well smart guy if you didn't know I do this for a living and you are wrong

If you get caught lying about your dependency status then it's RIP for you; filing as an independent has nothing to do with your W2 or taxes

If you don't believe me kindly pass along your info and I can contact my people in the Dept of Ed and we'll see who knows what they are talking about

You can automatically claim independent status when you turn 24, so wth are you guys arguing about?

if im right the state of the university and the admissions director decides if you are independent or not, you can't really lie about your dependency unless you know a wayto liie about having a job by forging company checks to your account and having a fake permanent domicile.

Like literaly I got ZERO grants and had to take out sub and unsub loans... again.

And even the loans weren't enough to pay off my tuition this semester so now my parents gotta dig out their own pockets

and make a couple grand appear

There's gotta be other ways to get grants for next semester. Someone enlighten me.

You're an independent if you're 24, a veteran, or under extreme circumstances (like an oprhan/ward of the state), then you would need approval from a financial aid director and references. Only way to lie would be a different social security # and name...then you got real problems

Yeah if you're under 24 there's no way you just "lie" or just say you're an independent.

You need serious back up docs to make yourself an independent if you aren't 24

I dealt with a girl who lied about having a kid to make herself independent; she ended up owing back about $14,000
