650hp CHEVROLET CORVETTE Z06 Details and Pricing Announced ✯✯✯✯✯ Starting @ only $78,995

Dont be suprised when chevy does the same thing to the camaro within a few years

i may be wrong, but i thought the hellcat was made (as powerful as it is) cause all the rules (gov MPG stuff) go into effect. so the other company's are too late.Im likely wrong tho.

Well idk what you mean by "too late" ?
You probily right about them restricting it but they are already making the new z06 motor for the z06? So if they are already making them i dont understand how it can be to late? Elighten me

ok, u right

maybe because i know what a muscle car is, that statement irked me a little
A muscle car is a American car with a big powerfull motor in a mid-full sized rwd vehicle that can go fast in a straight lines not in corners. And were affordible for the average american to afford.
I wouldent call a corvette a muscle car because it was desgined with aerodynamics and built to be an american supercar but i done see why it cant be called a muscle car. It is exactly what a muscle car is just marketed as a sports car. Like a superbird vise versa

This is the face of american muscle car for 2015
the corvette was never a muscle car tho, the camaro was more muscle than the vette

the vette was an answer to ferrari, porsche etc, which is why theres no backseat and its lightweight (which means no muscle)

The Corvette is definitely a muscle car.

A always thought a muscle car was any American car with a larger displacement engine. Don't think it needs to be a pony car, the Impalas from back in the day definitely weren't pony cars.

A Corvette is a sports car, but I'd also consider it a muscle car.

 Hey, I wasn't the one comparing the Challenger to Exotics.

The Hellcat is certainly a good value at 60k, but its not turning the USDM or exotic industry upside down. The Corvette is an even better value at 80k when you consider it bests the world class Zr1 in every category. This new Z06 has a few more horsepower, a lot more torque, weighs less and comes in at a starting price over 30 grand less than the base Zr1.

I like the Challenger, but the Hellcat isn't doing anything revolutionary. It sticks to the very traditional formula of big engine, lots of horsepower, lots of weight, good in a straight (if you can get it to
You're in denial. 60K for 707hp changes everything when it comes to the auto industry domestic and exotic.

I do like the Z06 and it is a great package. I'd like to see if Chevy brings back the ZL1 and if there is a new 7.0 Liter in the works.

I'd like for Chevy to throw a supercharged LS7 into a Corvette or Camaro. Thing would DESTROY everything in sight.
an ls7 isnt even compatible with a supercharger unless you're going to mod more.........way more

theres a reason theres a z06 and a zr1

The ZL1 is better because of the unfair advantage the supercharger gives it as dude above me pointed out. You supercharge an LS7 and you've got a MONSTER under the hood. Done up the right way, nothing will beat it.

Either way, Corvettes stay at the top.

imo, there's still no replacement for displacement. Didn't the new Z/28 just use the LS7?

Just a sidenote, isn't it funny the new Z/28 has such a huge displacement when the original one was only a 302?

Yeah, the Corvette is definitely classified as a sports car. 2 seats, powerful motor (not necessarily a requirement), higher pricing, greater emphasis on top speeds and handling, low ground clearance, not as practical as a daily driver, all trims of the car are performance oriented.

Challenger, Camaro, Mustang are classified as Muscle cars. 5 seats, powerful motor, low pricing, greater emphasis on bottom end straight line acceleration, higher ground clearance, easily functions as a daily driver, multiple trims available ranging from pedestrian to performance.

The Corvette is not, and has never been considered a muscle car.

clearly dank is the only other person who knows what a muscle car is

and as mentioned before, you cant just slap a supercharger on an LS7 and its a beast, theres more work to be done, honestly so much work needs to be done to make it a reliable driver that i wouldnt even consider it an LS7 anymore

it wouldnt even be a modded LS7, it would be a re-engineered LS7, which kinda takes the fun out of it

yea the z28 uses the 427

2015 Corvette Z06 Horsepower Low-Balled?

Performance tuning company Vengeance Racing was – as far as we know – the first such group to get their hands on a brand new 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06. Their first order of business? Performing an obligatory burnout at the Chevrolet dealer for a group of on-lookers.
But their second order of business? Dynamometer testing.
Vengeance Racing found that their personal Corvette Z06 packed a few more ponies than expected, measuring 585 hp at the wheels, and 617 ft-lbs of torque. GM rated the motor at 650 each, power and torque (at the crank), so figuring a fairly standard 15 percent driveline loss, that would mean their Z06 was producing an awesome 688 hp, and 725 ft-lbs at the crank.
Of course, it could rather be that the Corvette Z06 has lower driveline losses than average; we do already know that the car contains a rather special carbon fiber driveshaft. But as noted by Corvette Forum, even assuming a much lower 10 percent driveline loss, torque is up 32 ft-lbs higher than it should be.
And this is in a car that hasn’t even been broken in more than the 20 or so miles to drive back to the shop.
Either way, General Motors seems to be continuing their tradition of under-representing the performance numbers of their motors, much (we’re sure) to the satisfaction and excitement of its customers.

This looks even better in blue.

This Z06 is a world class perfomrance car, but Mopar has turned the entire industry domestic and exotic upside down with the 707HP Hellcat at $20,000 less..
didn't take long did it.

HUH???? Corvette is a sports car. Hellcat is a muscle car. Im sure this has been said.
He's probably talking about "domestic" hp wars between American cars

Probably
