Can't believe it's been 22 years ago Vol. MARTIN

Growing up it was my show man loved it till this day. Every time he thought he looked fresh and would hit a pose had me dying

Came out when I was in third grade. I remember seeing the previews and thinking, who is this dude. I just didn't know what I had in store.... "Baby I bet your man won't even hit the cabbage patch for you"

I used to love the show, but as I grew older I realized that it does nothing but paint an ugly caricature of black culture in America. It's nothing more than a modern minstrel show that portrays every negative stereotype possible....

Jerome the Pimp

Roscoe the bad *** little kid

King Beef the shucker and jiver

Shanaynay the ratchet with the cartoonishly large butt

Hustle Man the purveyor of stolen merchandise

We all know how they portrayed Tommy

There's even that episode where martin blows all his money on some Jordan Xs

The fact buffoonery like Martin and the Wayans Brothers took the place of progressive shows like The Cosby Show and A Different World in the early 90s is no coincidence .

Here's a very good read about Black life and how it's portrayed on TV:

Totally ignored everything positive on the show but :smh:

decent points in that post, but fresh prince was out at the same time; which featured an affluent black family living in a very nice home.

This show is so unfunny its mind boggling. Matter of fact I'd be hard pressed to find anything Martin Lawerence has done that is funny.
