I just began studying abroad in Spain this week. I'm not to busy yet so I can answer some questions if anybody has some.
It was about a 30 hour trip from California including some long layovers and almost missed flights. The thing I wasn't immediately ready for when I arrived was no street signs. All of the street names were posted on buildings but it seems that a lot of intersections don't even have any names posted. In addition, the numbers for a lot of the buildings are either not posted or posted way above eye level. Considering all this, I was pretty lost when I got off the bus when I was trying to find my place. Another thing that is annoying is my body is taking more time than I hoped to adjust. Even when I go to bed on time, I still get minimal sleep.

Anyways, I'm not sure how I'll be updating my time here but I'll probably post some little updates here: http://erusiel.tumblr.com/ and my photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/hodrick/ and http://seanhodrickphotog.tumblr.com/

did you know I hate you bc I jealous?

nah, good stuff bro. take advantage of this opportunity that many wish they had.

is it expensive? (living-wise)

what's the food like?

what are you studying?

how are the girls?

how good is your spanish? bc I speak spanish and their spanish is hard to grasp.

how is transportation within the city?

nightlife?

american sports get any air play out there?

any nice sneaker shops?

how's the vibe? mellow, hectic, etc.

does the rain in Spain fall mainly on the plane?
I havent experienced any rain even when on the plane so I couldn't tell you

It's easy to go through money fast just because I want to try all the food but I try to eat out only once and day and cook the rest of my time. It doesn't seem to be too expensive. My French roommate said Stockholm, Paris, and Dublin and much more expensive than here.
I'm going to study business but I'm only taking an intensive spanish class for 4 hours a day at the moment.
So far I've only had a couple sandwiches and I burger so I can't really speak on it too much. I want to try more but my lack of Spanish makes me somewhat scared to try places but I should be trying new places very soon.
It seems the city is very walkable. I haven't gone anywhere outside of walking distance yet so I can't speak on transportation. My American friends make it sound easy. It's hard to speak on the girls in general since the only time I see them is walking around. Their generally much more slender. I should get a better impression after I finally go out (which will probably be tonight). I Just started really exploring yesterday so I haven't found many sneaker shops outside of Nike which didn't have much of a selection. I went into Le Coq Sportiff store which was pretty nice. I think they used to supply futbol jerseys for club and national teams. We don't have a TV so I haven't been able to see what they watch. It doesn't seem like theres much space for a baseball diamond here so it's understandable just from that standpoint why it wouldnt be popular. I know theres more basketball courts around with people actually playing on them; I just need to find them. The Fiba World Cup is coming here for the playoffs which should be pretty fun. I believe KD will be hosting a Nike event too so I will probably go to that. For the most part, it seems as if the citys fast paced, but it's easy just to sit off on the side and just relax.

What does study abroad actually mean.
School doesn't officially start until the 9th so I can't tell you exactly how it'll be but I'm in an intensive Spanish class everyday until the 5th for 4 hours a day. My teacher was extremely close to kicking out a girl from the Republic of Georgia because she was reverting back to English too often.

Good stuff man. I did a study abroad in Holland when I was in college. One of the best experiences I've ever had.

I have a friend there now so I plan to take a visit sometime. I have two girls from Holland in my class and all the stats I read about the height were not false. Both are probably 6 ft.

Take advantage of your time there. And go see a soccer game at Camp Nou

Are you going to shoot dice with Larry Bird?

It's in Ciutat Vella and it just got made in the summer.
I went to a Catalan rally and I couldn't understand a word. They seem pretty serious about their culture and independence.
Thanks for the recommendation!

Here is another video I made. It's from my last weekend when I participated in a human towers competition.

Did a study abroad in Valencia, Spain (about 3 hr train south) and loved it. Went to Barcelona for a weekend. Checked out Gaudi Park, the clubs that are basically on the beach and all that good stuff. I thought going up to Telefèric de Montjuïc  was pretty cool cuz of the view. Really wish I could have made it to a soccer game. Enjoy it, I want to go back. I'd highly recommend traveling after especially since it's such a long trip from cali. It's a bummer its not prime season for Ibiza.

Only thing- sure you heard this many times, but watch for pickpockets. Bunch of girls I was with got their stuff stolen when they went swimming outside the club, but obviously they were being careless.

Looks okay.

I get you like donuts?

You better smoke that weed out there.

Post pics of the types of girls out there.
