A knife wielding suspect was shot by an Atlanta Police Officer today after the suspect stabbed a plain clothes officer on the street.

Officials confirm an Atlanta Police officer shot a man at Woodruff Park after the suspect assaulted a Georgia State University Police officer with a knife. According to the Atlanta Police Department, an APD officer tried to question a man who appeared to be drinking alcohol around 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police say the man kept walking and came across a GSU police officer, who police say was helping assist the APD officer in the apprehension of the suspect. The GSU officer was in plain clothes. The suspect took out a large butcher knife and assaulted the GSU officer with it.

The man who stabbed the officer was shot by the APD officer, to stop the assault. According to Atlanta Police, the GSU officer was injured in the incident. Both the officer and suspect were taken to Grady Memorial Hospital and are in stable condition.

My younger brother goes to state and had no knowledge of this today.... Interesting

That's on my campus. Had no idea what happened until I got home. I got a call and email from the school about it though

Yea because this has nothing to do with race right?
If the officer shot the man before he had a chance to use that knife you'd all be screaming brutality, systematic racism, and every other buzzword in the liberal dictionary. The only difference between this and the MB incident is video evidence of MB charging the officer, which somehow makes it completely unbelievable.

The cop should've shot him in the leg, he only had a knife. Using lethal force in this situation is barbaric.

If I was the one who got stabbed, I'd be upset the other cop didn't shoot sooner. I understand being apprehensive with everything in the news lately but damn, you're waiting until I get stabbed first?

Oh, right, the video evidence of Michael Brown breaking the officer's orbital bone inside his vehicle, then running fifty feet away, turning around, and charging at him with no weapon, thus requiring the officer to fire 11 shots, four of which came after a two second pause.
