Jordan Brand Stops Production on the Air Jordan 3

Doesn't JB basically put the other models in the vault anyway when it selects the 2 or 3 different models to release each year?
By the time JB loops back around to the same model, a few years have passed anyway.

Eh, the thing is they release more than 2-3 models a year. This year alone we've seen 6's (of course, as it's the Year of the 6), 3's, 1's, a 9, a 5, 2's, 14's, 10's, 11's and the 13's on the way. That's a total of ten models overall. (That I can remember anyways.) We then also had the 12's, 4's, and 8's last year, along with various other models previously mentioned that we've also seen this year. Only model of the top 14 (And they announced the other day that they don't see a market for any of the Jordans from 15 on) that we haven't seen this year or last year, is the 7, which has been confirmed as releasing next year, AND which had like four different colorways release in 2012.

Just saying, they tend to pimp out the most popular models, without much of a break in-between.

I think this is GREAT. Stop releasing 3s with painted midsoles that crack. They can remaster all they want but if they dont fix that than they might as well leave them in the vault. Some of you may not remember or never owned 3s from 2001 and early but the soles never cracked. I wore my 2001 BC3 til the soles fell off (literally) and the soles were faded but no cracks because they didnt paint them back then.

Love this pic. I wore mine today and they are still going strong. The misole issue needs to be addressed in this hiatus they are taking, which I really don't believe for a minute they will stop production for more than a year or two max. The IVs midsole sucks too. The only thing that concerns me about this is trying to obtain a pair for a sole swap when the time comes might be an issue if they actually do prolong the III for 3 or 4 years.

wish they'd drop BC's or TB's first before going that route...i hope when they come back they'd make a proper midsole that doesnt chip or crack after a few wears.

Exactly my thoughts....Needed to double up on my bc 3s and get a fresh pair of TB s , but I refuse to pay those absurd prices around...

Until then my favourite pair will go to my ''vault'' after some restoration - cleaning...

to be honest..... one could argue this statement right about now. are current retro jordans REALLY made to be worn if the paint chips after 1 wear?? food for thought

i wear my 2014 3s in the gym often. still no chipping. deadlift, squats, calf raises, little running and jump.

True Blues were THE shoe for me. I had held off buying any of the other colors and refuse to pay reseller prices for them in anticipation of a 2015 release

Well what NA are we likely to see this year if the bred 4 remastered and with NA might potentially happen next year? 2013 wc88 can't be a one off NA treatment right?

i don't care about chipping, creasing, you name it... i enjoy wearin kicks that i like and i'm good with it! we're talking about cheap chinese shoes, theyre NOT a billion dollar picasso who's meant to be stared thru a glass case!

that doesnt mean i beat or have dirty shoes, i take care of em but if they crease and chip (even if they shouldn't) it's normal wear so not a problem for me!

If i pay $200 (cheap?) for a pair of shoes I would like quality construction. Of course all shoes breakdown in time but retro 3s, and 4s breakdown too soon. JB's new plan to provide a higher quality and better constructed product shows they know there is a problem. Lets just hope they give us what we want.

What ever led you to believe that it's something they'd put on a model yearly?

I guess technically you can say that the Jordan I Hi "OG" pairs have you covered.

Think about ppl buyin 40k BMW and having engine failures because BMW don't wanna fix engeneering issues!

What i mean, they know they past the line with quality issues, but the brand is so hyped and strong they just don't care! remastering is a gimmick to release shoes at most "decently made" and charge some more bucks over retail!

I think that may have been the goal to begin with but I read that Jordan actually got more involved with these and said when they are remastered he wants the shoes back to the quality they were. He also said he didn't want them to be better than they were because he doesn't want them to be "luxury" sneakers but he did say he wants the quality back to the way it was when he played, I respect that

he's making billions out of crappy quality shoes, do you think he will ever say "i know i make shoes that have no quality control and wear down as a time bomb, i'll promise you i'll make less profit to make you NTers happy"?

serious, usually box labes is one of the first thing to look at in a legit check, look at this:

in a couple years fakes will be better than legit pairs

I don't know. That's why I posed it as a question and not a fact. It seems like nike wouldn't mind making a pattern of NA releases because it allows them ease us into higher price points. 1s don't count in my book because there isn't really premium paid for NA treatment. Plus, why wouldn't nike repeat a successful release that was also praised by the sneaker community for finally hearing consumer demands. Ya, they didn't put nike on bottom. Still this is Nike we only get things incrementally. If the community wants to pay a premium I can see nike doing it again.

Yep and that type of thinking will continue at JB until there is real competition in this space. I don't think there will be for a long time. Just like there won't be another MJ. They do this because they can. Fueled by customer loyalty and inability of competitors to put nike on edge. So they just go ahead and keep the fat profit margins the same by charging higher prices for quality improvement.

BMW fixes any issues with their cars so you cant really use that as an example. All i'm saying is that if they fix the sole cracking issue i will start buying 3s again.

Jordan brand and nike will never give us what we want.........

They will only give us what THEY think we need.
