what's up famb,

got a call today from a recruiter about BCG's TMT group.

They said they're looking for a knowledge analyst...

any insight on BCG and how they do things would be appreciated.

It's not something that i think will go through, seeing as how i'm not from Harvard or standford...

But it's worth a go to see how much information i can gather.

Good looks..

:nerd: :nerd:

Very reputable company. Always on top of those "best places to work" lists. You need to get on that joint bro. Great resume builder.

Is it like having Google or apple on the resume?

I hear they're up there with McKinsey as far as clout

Great company.
Awesome reputation.
One of the big time players in the consulting field especially since they are considered elite tier.

Numerous exit opportunities to Fortune 500 companies and/or private.

Definitely a good thing to have on your resume.

I interviewed with them for an internship years ago.

In terms of consulting, for prestige I would say yes. Bain, BCG, and McKinsey are pretty much the Big 3.

Oh and be ready for a case interview.

I was offered the internship but declined because I had an investment banking internship offer.

The interview was intense... but with proper preparation you'll do fine. they bring you in for a "super day" where you interview with multiple people in like 30 min time slots. I was given a few case studies and the others were fit interviews.

I suggest taking a look at some case study prep guides. lots of business schools have them on the net in their PDF form.

I've attached one..

Flip through, borrow, buy "Case in Point"

Definitely try for it. BCG is top-tier consulting and the exit opps are great.

Do a few case studies before.

Aight famb...

It's for a Knowledge Team Analyst...

I have a phone interview on Tuesday... video interview on wednesday w/ a guy in paris..

holla at me famb...

how far off would i be from the management consultants?

:nerd: :nerd:

Make it to the second round...

Some info they gave me

1. No travel (once a year conference in Europe)
2. Support role for consultants. Gathrrig and formatting data for consultants to use
3. Not client facing
4. Combination of finance, marketing, and operations. Basically a jack of all trades for businesses.

I would compare it to a back office role for banking.....

There isn't a lot of stiff on the internet because it's a relatively new role...

Hopefully this will help another NTer

Congrats and good luck. Doesn't sound like the most appealing job (not actually consulting / customer facing), but it's a way in the door and that's really all that matters right up front. Do your thing

Any update, famb?

Yep... So I went on the second interview, all good. .

They kept asking me to come back for interviews...

I went on 7 total... :x

Started in October... But they said they weren't going TK make any decisions until the new year...

Got a call in January saying it was down to two...

But by then... I had already moved on...

I had been interviewing with a huge private equity firm that opened a new office in Dallas (it was about 2 years old) for an analyst position.

That interview was seamless... 3 interviews, an excel test, and an offer..

I started at the end of January and I'm loving it.

:pimp: :pimp:

This pays more than BCG, has better perks (free dinner after 7!) And feels like a startup because everyone is so young.
