Since its been a year, can we rationally try to discuss "Control" and it's responses?

I heard the King Los response to Control the other day and of is still as sharp as it was the cost time I heard it. I heard it the times in a row the first time I heard it. (Thanks 92Q!). But some of the other ones not so much. I iinitially liked Joe Budden's response the best but maybe not so much anymore. I really like what Fab and KRIT did. I hadn't really listened to the response from some of those hip-hop also fans. K Dot himself praised Los's version.

Who had the best rebuttal to Control?

KRIT and Pusha T had the best responses in terms of material. One put out one of the top mixtapes that year, while the other put out the best rap album of 2013.

As far as rapping over the Control beat, Budden is definitely a top one. Too bad he's a loser.

Whole thing gets weaker when I listened again.

Much ado about nothing. Rap simply isn't going to regain it's lyrical focus on the mainstream level without a bigger push and movement by numerous dope rappers that are embraced. So in that respect I'd say Kendrick didn't even get what he wanted out of that as far as what he said in the verse

As far as the disrespect level, eh. Just another rapper stroking his ego. It was funny while it lasted.

it brought some good responses... i just like that kendrick went at some big names & brought out some competition & discussion in rap with that verse.

It was cool for a week then hip hop fans and their short attention spans moved on to something else n forgot about it. It changed nothing, it just ruffled some feathers and made ppl you forgot about, didnt care or know about try to show their lyrical expertise or whatever with their own verses on the beat instead of them trying to make BETTER SONGS. The entire Control song was cool tho, all 3 did their thing

People really thought Kendrick "shook up the rap world" when he dropped this but in all actuality his verse and intent was just a big waste of time.  Overall, his verse was quickly forgotten about.  As far as responses go, my favorite was Fabolous's.

Asinine Statement of the Month:  "After watching the Made In America performance...there is no denying Kanye is the greatest of our generation"--Ginfante

All shock value, said this when it dropped, still say so now, didn't nobody care about it then or now, replying to Control was the new version of rapping on the A Milli beat

"Nobody cared" but your idol went on the radio sounding like a scorned ex lover about it.

What? My idol? Cause I like his music? Lol, NT never fails to amaze...

Who won though? Since that verse was soooo important

Drake keeps getting more famous. Kendrick didn't kill his career. Kendrick still hasn't dropped so we don't know how that will go. Why you sound so combative?

Dude said Drake's my idol cause I've stated my opinion on him...and it differs from what he thinks so...

But you right. We'll see when Kendrick drops album #2, and I guess Drakes next joint

Dude is kind of right though, it knocked for like 2 weeks and then just sank.  I don;t really think it did anything for KDot honestly.

Damn y'all memories that foggy?

**** was a story for way too long.

"nobody cared"
"two weeks"

That followed Drake until a little bit after The Language dropped.

Think pieces and responses everywhere for WEEKS.

It was talked about TOO much....but revisionist history is MFer, boy.

You from the DMV right?

yea, that explains why it was the talk of YOUR town for over 2 weeks.  It was either that or play another Paul Wall record.

I go to Howard #1. So I was in DC the entire time. #2 ***** are you 15....or 40? Either way how are you so disconnected to think in the 4th largest city in the country we talk about local music all the time? #3...nothing I said had to do with my "town" Drake getting asked about it, blogs writing about it, rappers repsonding to it.....what does that have to do with my "town"

You have just given the dumbest response to anything I've said on here this year.

You even revealed you were gonna say that dumb *** **** no matter where I lived. You're a natural buffoon. Excuse yourself.
