NBA/Owners did more to drive up salaries than anybody. By trying to keep players on teams, and stay in small markets, they drove up salaries.

Need to overpay to get a player, because all the financial incentive stays with the player's current team.


When they could have just made it even across the board, and eventually the NBA would find a balancing point where stars would still be spread out anyway for lower contracts.

Restricted contracts make matters worse. Yeah, they may help teams retain talent, but it forces teams who want that restricted player to go over the player's true value in order to convince his current team to not re-sign him.

He came in what? 2nd in defensive player of the year voting? Not everything has to do with scoring.
 
We're not picking up Shved's option. Not at 4.5 mill, thats just too much.

Priority #1 has to be to move Caldo. YOU HAVE TO MOVE CALDO. Especially since from what I'm hearing Phil/Derek want Grant to play major minutes. I like lineups with 2 big guards that can both bring it up so I would love to overpay Dragic or Knight and stick him at the 2.

Even though we wont get Jimmy or Gasol we have to still go out and try and i'm sure we will.
 
PHX is definitely gonna re-sign Knight. That's why Bledsoe is available. Dragic wants the max which is about $80 million if I recall correctly. NO WAY IN HELL
 
Only free agents I see us realistically trying to get are Monroe, west, Tobias, Mathews, green. Anyone else would be a surprise. Really hope we get some leadership guys on the vet min. Would really help the team
 
Everyone is getting the max. None of these FA will take a paycut unless they know we already have someone else locked up.
 
IDK about Deandre. I'd prefer a big who can at least make plays, hit a free throw or something if your offense is lacking. However

Sounds legit ! I know DJ brings defense but i dont like the idea of giving $100M to a dude who wont play the last 5 minutes in crunch time

Look it, whoever the hell the squad gets, they have to win. Pure and simple. No 2016 FA is coming here to help rebuild. Winning is a must. Now when the November/December timeframe rolls round and the thread title is along the lines of : Offseason thread already or The Official What the Hell Happened, then we'll know for sure where we stand.
