2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

western conf. guys like gasol, LA, etc. will be enticed to come to the knicks for one reason....the fact that the eastern conference is SOOOOO much easier to get through than the west. if these guys REALLY care about winning, they will build a team in ny, and pretty much cruise through the eastern conference playoffs. the only real contender in the east is the cavs. i dont the hawks will have much success in the post season.

^ true statement... i dont believe in the bulls to say they are a threat in the east... if we can get 1 superstar this year or next year to pair with melo i think the knicks can be really good even with an OK supporting cast... im just really focused on the lottery because that will start off the whole off season

Rondo is washed up, would be a huge waste of money. Dude is just a name at this point.

LA isn't leaving Dame to come here. They have a championship caliber team when everyone is healthy. Upgrade their bench and Portland is set.

I personally dont hate Rondo at all and wouldnt mind giving him a shot if lets say Mike Woodson was still our coach. But on this team under Phil Jackson, I dont see that relationship working out,

And I agree, LA isnt going anywhere but Portland. I was more referring to Lopez and Wes Matthews as players from Portland that are attainable.

And I also dislike a lot of these plans being thrown out there with the idea of signing more than one PF/C. That is the main reason I still might prefer Gasol to Monroe, because if we signGasol, he would be able to be our only center/sole rim protector allowing us flexibility at the 4 and even allowing us the opportunity to play Melo at the 4 if we wanted to. If we sign Monroe, we still need to find a rim protector and no way we could play Melo at the 4 and Monroe at the 5 with both of their defensive deficencies. There is the chance that we could sign Monroe and Draymond Green for his defensive purposes but as good as Draymond is at defending I am unsure if he is big enough to protect the rim and/or guard centers.

But a lot of these plans (even ones that I throw out)that involve signing like Monroe and Robin Lopez or Gasol and Towns, etc. etc. I am just not feeling in today's guard happy NBA. But man oh man if we could somehow draft D'Angelo Russell and sign Marc Gasol, then sign Draymond Green to play next to Melo (I view Draymond as a perfect compliment to Mwelo because he excels at every area Melo is weakest at and he is a ******* bully) and then also sign Wes Matthews or Danny Green as a 3 and D guy at the 2. That is a ******* squad that could win a championship. Perfect combination of defensive players, a franchise PG, a go to scorer as well as complimentary scorers, and shooters.

What a lineup Russell/Danny Green,Melo,Draymond Green/Marc Gasol would be. And young enough to establish a foundation that could last foryears. Certainly a long shot but that is my ideal scenario for the summer. Then we learn from 2013 and sign some old school type veterans for cheap to come off the bench and re-establish that hard working culture we need that focuses on hard work, sacrifice, and winning before everything else. We cant forget about that. As young as I want this team to get as far as our elite players it is very important for us to refind guys like Jason Kidd, Prigioni, Sheed, Kurt, and Camby. Signing players like that could go a long way in establishing a culture and they are also important because they are battle tested and could contribute good minutes sporadically and probably wont cost too much because at that point those players have made their $ and just care about contributing to a winner.

Also like Khris Middleton as a potential 3 and D 2 guard for us. I like him a lot because he is only 23 so he might have a higher ceiling than guys like Danny Green and Wes Matthews but he is more unproven so he would probably cost less. Of course with an unproven player like him there is also the chance that this year was a fluke and he turns out to be a bust but if this was just year #1 of a long and prosperous NBA career and we are able to sign him right as he is starting to peak, he could be the steal of free agency. I like a guy like that.

i like middleton, good player for a winning team but i think he might be a restricted free agent. if he is, we'll probably need to overpay. if not i'd gladly give him a chance.

i just dont see anyone leaving portland. paul allen won't let them.

Is Marc Gasol top 5 best center in the nba right now? Yes! Without a doubt. But there's other guys in the nba that can do his same exact rim protection minus his mid range jumper and passing ability. He's gotten slower and slower every year. I love melo at the 4 but he should be a SF first. We have melo for the rest of his career. I don't want him banging in the paint with 4s and 5s for the next 5 years. It mainly only benefits him when he's on offense imo. I think we should have a legit 4 and 5 in our starting lineup and then maybe melo can play pf for like 10-15 min a game.

i know Middleton can score, but can he defend?
Oh yeah. Middleton has been a very good defender this year. He has been an overall stud out there in Milwaukee, especially after Jabari went down. Do some research. I honestly think he could be a big steal. Very high risk/high reward free agency but hes only 23 and if this year wasnt a fluke and just year #1 of his development and he will improve beyond this year we could find ourself a young all-star caliber 2-way SG for $6-7 mil per year.

Yea Prince Middleton is the real deal. I doubt Jason Kidds hating *** lets him come to NY. He's also got Henson over there in Milwaukee rotting away on the bench, who I think could be a starter on any trash nba team today.

just asking because i haven't seen much of him other than when the Knicks play the Bucks

i'd gladly take him as our starting 2

Just re-read that post and realized I sounded kind of like an ******* when I said "Do some research." Wasnt trying to sound like that at all, was actually just trying to tell you to look up the season he has had in Milwaukee and you might be surprised. Probably would have flown under my radar as well if I didnt pick him up on my fantasy team half way through the season

Middleton is restricted according to HoopsHype. 6-7 mill would be great value, but that's getting matched for sure.
You never know. This IS Milwaukee we are talking about, and they still got to worry about Giannis and Jabari. Not only do they have to save up $ for all of them but they might not view Middleton as an ideal fit for their team once Jabari gets back from injury. Middleton didnt really take off this season until Jabari went down and they might not think it is worth paying Middleton that much to keep him around if they dont think he fits in as well with Jabari/Giannis, who are both clearly their 2 most important pieces. I also dont know if they plan on playing Jabari or Giannis at the 4 but they would need to if they want to keep Middleton around... Then again, they would probably need to regardless because I dont see either of them playing the 2 unless Giannis learns to shoot the rock better.

Im not saying its definite but it is surely a possibility. I would have told you there was no way they were going to let Brandon Knight leave them in Restricted Free Agency with the way he was carrying that team earlier in the season, and not only will they not be matching any offers he received but they decided to ******* trade him out of absolutely nowhere. You cant use logic when trying to figure out a team like Milwaukee. they are lucky as hell they stole Giannis in that draft or else they would be a ******* mess right now.

maybe but their new owner's paper is pretty long. they might just say screw it and go all in with these guys and see what happens.

i think kidd wanted mcw to mimic what he had going on in Brooklyn with Livingston.

i think its because mcw is more like him than knight was

as much as i want KAT. i think were gonna end up drafting a PG and signing a big. i just have that feeling. tbh, thats a better scenario for us, since the PG crop this year is really weak.

if we have the top 2 pick it would be dumb to draft a pg... i would rather go with a big man then pick up a guard in free agency... both positions are important but i think a center is something we need the most... no interior presence on offense or defense

Idc what pick we have, putting D'Angelo Russell on this roster in no way would be "dumb." Same with Karl-Anthony Towns though, IMO. Give me one of the 2, and ill be aiight regardless.

Go after B-Knight/Dragic if you draft KAT. Go after Gasol/Monroe if we draft D-Lo. Build the rest of the ship from there.
