STAT was the right choice. You guys just got hit by really bad luck with him.
You can even look at this year, they became the same player. Guys off the bench, and Amar'e still played better.
Injuries just robbed him.
Everyone wants to blame Amar'e, but he was BALLING the first year he was on the team. Had he never blown his back out against the Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, Amar'e tenure in NY would've been very different.
Now, it's a different story with what if's because according to Phoenix's medical staff, he was on borrowed time and was a ticking time bomb. If he never got hurt that time, he would've gotten hurt later on. That's why he could never get "right" with his knee. When he was rehabbing from one injury, he'd (re)injure something else setting him back even more.
It is what it was with Amar'e at this point. No point in talking about it now. All we can do is cut our losses and continue to move forward.
