2015 NY Knicks offseason thread, Los Almighty appreciation thread

No doubt. Confidence has increased just from getting older so in that regard I'm not really struggling, I've had women show a bruh interest even when I was chubby but the weight loss has definitely helped.

Definitely wouldn't mind catching a game, just letting you know I'm still living that broke college student life, ain't on my ChampCruThik final form just yet
Don't worry, I'm an average Joe compared to the numerous big-wigs in NYC. Worked at Starbucks and Equinox throughout and even after college to pay bills. I know the hustle.

Stay away from ENY to raise your kids, gentrification or not. If you wanna have a family and pay affordable prices while being in the center of everything go to Queens (Forest Hills, Rego Park, Flushing, Astoria etc).

I've been to many places in queens....I would love to live in Bayside....but like someone mentioned before...the prices lol...

Most likely I will be raising my family in queens regardless...And nothing against anyone from Long Island but L.I. just isn't for me lol

I'm from Bayside. Nice area, but little to no subway access. When I get back to NY, I'm definitely looking into Astoria, always loved that area. Good food, subway, and basketball courts.

Bayside/Whitestone area is pretty sweet. Could be a little pricy but it's a decent section of Queens. Just make sure you send your kids to SFP for high school :pimp:

Affordable for some (unless you are talking about renting only). I am currently in the market for a home and more and more it is looking like Broad Channel is the spot. houses are cheap, the area is quiet, A train right there, but it floods. Outside of the two major storms we had, the houses never took on water. the area mentioned above are mad expensive and if it's cheap, it needs to be gutted. at any rate. when I close, #Summit

Queens is getting VERY expensive as well. Also, Bayside and Whitestone have become a VERY expensive area to buy property. I looked into buying a Brownstone in BK and they're also very expensive. I think if I were to raise a family it'd probably be in a townhouse in the Upper West Side or even Riverdale. If I were to live in Queens, it'd probably be in Fresh Meadows, Jamaica Estates or Oakland Gardens.

Astoria, Rego Park and Forrest Hills have ALL gone up in price. Average price for houses out there are close to $1 MM now. You're looking at dropping around $250k including down payment, closing costs and other fees.

Astoria is decent, but the housing market has gone up in the last few years. It's even expensive to rent out there as well. It really all comes down to location and convenience. A buddy of mine has a 2BR apartment with a roommate in Astoria for $1600/month (walk-up and 15 min walk to train). I've seen other 1 BR apartments in Astoria go for $2200/month (doorman and super close to train).

LIC is a BEAUTIFUL area, but the rent is astronomically high. I know a married couple living in a luxury building in front of the piers in a studio paying $2200/month. If you want to buy those apartments, they're all above the $1 MM mark. The best place right now is to look for those new buidlings that were once old factories around Jackson Ave or Hunters Points that are now converted into Lofts. I think you can get a decent 3500 Sgft loft for around $800k. I'm seriously considering that move.

I've been looking to buy property in NYC for quite some time now. If anyone has any questions, let me know. I've learned a lot about NYC real estate in the past year or so.

Oh, and NYC > LI any day of the week. Average cost of taxes in NYC is $3k while LI could run you around $10k+

Cue Steve Nash no thanks gif.

I came back to NJ to raise my kids, wouldn't have felt comfortable doing it in crown heights. Lived there 9 yeears and only knew a handful of people in my neighborhood because the turnover rate was stupid. I spent a lot of time in Rosedale which reminded me a lot of NJ. My lady's from Rosedale and she said the same thing.

I plan on renting for a couple of years before i look into buying an apt/house. I do plan on owning a house by 30 though.

The FH/RP area skyrocketed. My parents bought a 2 bedroom for 107k in 2000, now its worth 300k

My uncles house in Rego Park went from 440k to 1M from that time too :wow:

Probably be worth 500k in 10 years. That whole region has been handled well.

2 malls, multiple grocery stores, Costco, safety, trains, schools all within 5 min

Impossible to find parking now though :smh:

Yo, tell me about it! Everytime I go back to Queens to visit my family I gotta deal with the parking issue. My dad found a little secret parking area near the Costco though

damn...I pay about that price for a 2br just outside of Astoria. Astoria was where j wanted to move but my real estate agent basically laughed at my budget getting me a 2br there.

I'd love yo move to LIC.

I'd never move to Long Island. It's either BK, Westchester, Manhattan if my paper stretches that long or close areas like NJ or CT (currently there now).

Where you find yambs though? Like how do you bring home a girl to your place if you're in Manhattan at a bar? Girls usually willing to take the cab or train out to Queens?

I was talking to a girl on Tinder. Found out she was from Westchester and I stopped trying to get at her. Ain't tryna commute for yambs.

Where in Jersey?

Tell me you know about the Astoria Applebee's. No jokes.

LIC is getting ridiculous.
My buddy got a steal. Splits $2,400 per month with his roommate. 2 BR, living room, bathroom, kitchen. Nice area right by Court Square stop.

Depending on urgency, splurge for hotel.
