Man Changed His Name From Jose To Joe And Immediately Got More Job Interviews

Asians been ahead of the game on this ditching their cultures to give their kids white *** names.

Would my son's future name get discriminated? De'Anthony
Without a doubt. I know like 4 De'Anthonys. Anything that needs to have an apostrophe separating letters... No.

Just name him Anthony.

Anthony is too common for me, it's down the road though.

I don't necessarily think it's a bad thing though. I doubt the first generation that does isn't willingly and happily doing it. The parents are just doing what they think is best for their child. They're only discussing job interview discrimination here, but I bet kids with anglicized names also have it easier growing up too with peers. It probably even makes a difference when it comes to bagging women.

I've considered giving my kids "white" names, and then giving them different middle names that I then call them by when I have a family.

Thank god for a normal name. All these Jadeveons, D'Brickashaws, and Quintashias will be getting rude awakenings going into the workforce, unless they make it in sports or IG. Parents, help your kids out at birth please. My dad saved me from being Marquis Jamal Cassius and saved my sister from being September.

I'm not about to give my child some run of the mill name that 10 other people in his/her class have because somebody in the future might not like.

That's just me, I would hope they wouldn't aspire to be in the boring *** corporate world where that type of discriminatory crap happens anyways.

I don't believe in ish like this but both my older siblings got ghetto sounding names and I got a white name but I'm the only one who went to college :smh:

Still gon name my son LeBronye though :pimp:

Colbert's middle name is really tyrone, i remember Him and Bill O'reilly were arguing and Bill referred to him as tyrone

That's just perfect haha, link? [emoji]127806[/emoji][emoji]128064[/emoji][emoji]127806[/emoji]

Barack and Condoleezza had a hard time finding jobs.

Yes, let's compare the average person to truly extraordinary individuals like Barack and Condoleezza. And they STILL had/have to deal with prejudice because of their names and skin color. So yes, continue ignoring the point at hand

I've met a white guy named Tyrone but I had no idea it was an Irish name. Perception wise the name Tyrone got jacked by blacks cause it's usually associated with a black male now

Hell way before the internet definition of a 'Tyrone' :smh:

Edit: I have a Latin name

No surprise here. I really feel for some of the names I've seen recent newborns receiving... Talk about an uphill climb

Say this every time I see a hood influenced name or something so far left. Your name is the first thing that is on an application, job or college. If it rubs the person the wrong way it is going in the trash regardless if you are qualified. My kid will have a plain name just to excuse them from any discrimination their skin color won't already bring them.

Didn't watch the video but what? LOL

IMO you identify each person by the last name. Doesn't matter if your first name is Tommy if your last name is Wong or Nguyen you are automatically labeled Asian.

Same with Hispanics. Doesnt matter if your first name is Joe or Jose...if your last name is Garcia or Morales you already know they are Hispanic.

I don't see the point of changing your first name when clearly your last name is the turning point.

I can understand this might be beneficial for African Americans, but other ethnic groups can't get away with this unless they change their last names too.
