Destiny Thread (Bungie) - 9/9/14

wow just read this... crazy after hella grinding my boy put in 1,000+ hours for his, if this is whats to come before TTK i think i want no parts...
 
I've been lurking this thread for a while, been playing Destiny for a few months in my spare time after I beat the main story. I found out I had both the dlc's about a week or two ago so I've been doing those. Taken King looks great too. Finally got my first two exotics yesterday and today :pimp: I still need some legendary boots though



Anyway, I've never done a raid or a nightfall since I don't have a crew to run with. If anybody's interested in running something, I'm down most the time. I have a level 31 Hunter on Xbox. My GT is TheGumSoul.



Also, have the servers been especially buns for anybody else? Or is it my connection? I was running crucible with no problem up until this week or so.

Going into retirement for fall semester plus I'm not trying to drop 40 when I had copped the season pass.
If I cop this expansion pack I know I'm going to want to cop the two last DLCs. I ain't trying to support this format tho because next thing you know everybody and they momma going start doing season passes with expansion packs plus more DLCs down the line with bone bare release day games to justify this. It's a lot of heat coming out. I already pre-ordered 2k and halo 5. I plan to cop battlefront and both the Tom Clancy games rainbow and division. So it's time to put my jersey In the rafters. I still play PvP tho and can't wait for destiny 2 next year.

Agree 100 percent already spent close to 100 on this game i love it but i cant support it no more.
 
I'm really not going to be one of those people to tell you how to spend your money but....

Maybe do a quick exercise: take the amount of hours spent playing this game and divide this by that $100.

I suspect that the figure you come up with, which can be considered "entertainment per hour", will be insignificant when compared to other things/activities that you do (ie. movie tickets, restaurant tabs, etc.). For example, I've played 650 hours and this works out to $6.50/hour. Considering, I can't think of many other activities that provide this much "value". (This crude calculation does not factor in other externalities, such as meeting other NT'ers.)

Ultimately, I think it's interesting how we evaluate and compare values :smile:

it's not really that because I put in a bunch of hours into games without DLCs and games like CoD with just a season pass to get everything. It just comes down to principle at this point. If you don't think that other DEVs are watching Destiny right now to see how it goes you are kidding yourself. Activision basically stripped the game down at release. The story main character had like three lines you could easily complete the whole thing in four hours. Every mission was let ghost scan here fight off waves of enemies. The only way you could get any details in this game was to go on bungie.net and read grimiore cards. Let's be honest the base game should have been Dark Below and HoW with more story telling and the season pass should've been Taken King plus the last two DLCs. If they wanted to make extra money they should've did it by adding weapon skins, special shader and emblems, special dance moves. The whole of point of what I'm saying is this will become the norm if we support it, trust me a bunch of DEVs want this to be successful so they to can strip down their base games to sell more DLC.

There's that signature TEK negativity we all love and missed. We don't even know how much r he Wolfpack rounds will be nerfed unless you got another rocket that tracks and does additional date on top of that. Even if the nerd wolfpacks by 30% it will still do more damage than any other rocket launcher put there.

Btw all rockets do the same amount of damage the blast radius just determine how big of an area the damage has. I don't think it will be a nerf gun but it's still gunna do more damage than any rocket out right now and a majority of the ones when ttk drops I'm willing to bet money it will.

Not sure how long you've been playing games, but Bungie and Destiny aren't spearheading the 'stripped down game + DLC' model. I'm sure you could look back to Left4Dead2 (2009) and see that there was paid DLC on the original disc which garnered significant vitriol.

With this in mind, I think the only salient argument to be made is whether or not this game, that we play and care about a ton, is worth continuing to support. And from the community in here and the fact that our Friends Lists have grown to one degree or another, my position is that we've gotten a lot more out of Destiny than we bargained for.
