Destiny Thread (Bungie) - 9/9/14

Just ran the hard raid fresh with some Redditors with my 3rd hunter. 4 30's and 2 29's. Didn't get my boots to get me to 30, but got a Timepiece and Timebreaker. Not terrible. I got ANOTHER chest and gloves though. RNGesus pissing me off.

We got through the Gatekeeper on the second pass and Atheon in under a half hour. We had one guy with a Maxed Truth go in the left portal and I went in the right. We did the two plates simultaneously. It was so simple. Only two on each side go in, and one sits on the plate outside. Two GGhorn rockets and gatekeeper down to almost death. Then finished off with rifle and a level 30 grabbed the relic and came and cleansed before we exited. Then 5 of us went to the center and had no problems with the conflux. If we have 30's, they have to hold the relic. And GGhorn/Truth maxed out users need to go into the portals and take the gatekeeper out as soon as possible. 

Total time for raid was 2.5 hours. We had connection issues for the first hour of the game and kept glitching out at confluxes. Would been an hour and half if we didn't have to keep waiting for guys to rejoin fireteam.

Anyone from our Friday raid team down to finish up Gatekeeper/Atheon tonight? I'll be on later tonight around 9-10pm EST.

First game breaking EXPLOIT I've seen ingame. Hopefully Bungie can patch this before this game goes down hill. Hacks/exploits are always what kills games. Come on Bungie!!! Fix this ASAP.

For those who are are doing it because I noticed it when we did Aetheon as he was constantly moving, do not use grenades. They make Aetheon move and thus slow down DPS. His crit spot is tricky but a lot of us have gotten it down pact where we can crit ~80% of the time. By throwing grenades you are lower the DPS (damage per second) that we as a group can do.



Another post about upgrading weapons. Read the link ( ) There are some who want to run on hardmode now once they are 29 and I understand that. Normal becomes easy and you want a chance to get some of the exclusive drops that HM offers. But it'll show why it stresses why your weapons need to be all at 300, otherwise you are holding the group back significantly.



For Relic holders. this builds up on a previous post that either wrightone86 wrightone86 or zero23 zero23 made a few days ago.

Def a good read about the damage reduction and about the relic holder strategy. I had started running down the side anyways when I held it. I was guilty of a double jump every once in a while though.

I will post some things to take away for those who can't open links at work or don't want to read all of it.
 1) When you teleport and pick up the relic, don't go down the main stairway. Go to the right (both on Mars and Venus) around the edge of the main stairs. This allows you to sneak up to the Ad's without getting shot.
2)Do not double jump. There is no need and this alerts the ads to your presence.

3)Non-relic bearers, do not discharge your weapon until the first oracle appears.

Do this right and you don't need help with even the Minotaur on Venus. Mars is a piece of cake and you can kill all 3 hobgobs with a single relic slam, if you're a 30 on Hardmode (some say you can 1 hit even at 29, others say it takes 2 slams)

Again, most of you either do this or have an alternate equally successful method, this is for the copious amount of people who simple pick up the relic double jump down the stairs and then wonder why they got 2 shotted by a hobgob.

 To clarify to all the naysayers, your shield smash damage is based off your total light, not light level itself.
A 29 that is very close to 30 can 1 shot them on hard, however a 29 who is barely 29 cannot.

Note: DPB = Damage Per Bullet
1) Impact and weapon type set base DPB against Lvl1 mobs.
2) Weapon DPB scales by 7% per mob level; until
3) Weapon DPB scaling caps at mob level = (Attack / 15).
4) Fighting mobs above your level will then apply a haircut to your DPB (30%-40%-50%-100% for 1-2-3-4+ levels above).

Key stats (against mobs >= Lvl20) (assuming identical weapon type and impact)

A fully upgraded exotic will do 20% more DPB than a brand new exotic.
A fully upgraded legendary will do 26% more DPB than a brand new legendary.
A brand new legendary will do 3% more DPB than a fully upgraded rare.
A fully upgraded rare will do 8% more DPB than a brand new rare.

So what if I upgrade it and stop short of the upgrades that use ascendant energy? How much % am I losing out on?

Legendary weapons with no energy have 267 ATK. Divide by 15 gives you 17.8. So theoretically your damage will "peak" against lvl 18 enemies. Assuming that his 7% increase per lvl is correct, you'd be losing out on 2.2 levels worth of increases, so roughly 15%.

Exotics with no energy have 274 ATK, which is lvl 18.26. This is roughly 12% damage loss.

for PvE: warlock (sunsinger) > titan (defender) > hunter (gunslinger)
for PvP: hunter (bladedancer) > titan (striker) > warlock (voidwalker)

I played the beta with a titan and when the game started made one and got to level 27 with it. Beat the raid and everything.

I then made a warlock. That warlock is now 29 and I haven't used my titan in weeks. Self-res/blink/nova bomb >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

right now i run with a hunter.

i played with the warlock when the beta came out and i enjoyed it.

but that self revive is just something you cant overlook.

The one thing that drew me to believe i should make a titan is the bubble shield and the perks that can be upgraded.

I'm leveling a warlock now and have 2 lvl 30 titans (I switch gear to run HM VoG twice).

I personally love the bubble and the Defender is by far and away the best support class. The buffs the bubble gives from WoL, BoL, or AoL, it's all awesome.

Plus the bubble saves my life sort of like revive would.

My Warlock is ~11 now and I'm not a fan so far. We'll see how I feel after I get it to 20. I know one thing, they can't jump for ****.

Biggie doesn't like the Warlock because he has to glide and can't jump though. I told him by the time he is at the bottom of the talent tree and unlocked everything he will be loving it more than now. It always sucks and it slow just starting out.
