Federal Study Shows Black Drivers 31% More Likely To Be Pulled Over Than White Ones

never been asked to be searched. Been pulled over plenty of times in black areas tho. Last time I got pulled over it was because my tail light had light coming out of it from a previous accident. Never would ever be pulled over for that in a white area (i go back and forth). Since moving to the "hood" Ive been pulled over more times than in my entire life. All were legally acceptably reasons but Ive had a friend even say he was followed throughout our parking lot by a cop car. The incident of my last time being pulled dude followed me for at least a mile instead of just pulling me over right away. It was like he was looking for a reason. I definitely believe being in a white area the guy would just overlook it.

Wait...I don't understand...In 2014, this is common knowledge.

Slavery

Jim Crow

Martin Luther King

****** getting pulled over by blacks...

I thought they just taught this in elementary school...

BTW it's call "Pretextual stops" i.e "I pulled you over because the light over you license plate was out" while a valid reason, unless that particular cop has a fetish for tag lights, it's pretextual....and whats worse...the law knows about them...the law speaks about them...the law doesn't care enough to do anything about them.

Nah man, car don't matter. It's who's driving. Ask drug mules, they never take a nice car, because a po black kid in a nice ride is always a suspect. In fact, I've been told by LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS, that it's better for young black kids to drive older model vehicles because thats what they expect. Think about it, a twenty one year old looking black dude driving a 2014 mazaratti, or the twenty year old looking black dude driving a Volkswagon Golf...which one would draw more attention?

Not at all saying race isn't a major factor, but do you guys think the cars themselves are attributable to the profiling statistic?

I'm sure a real ragged looking car earns more attention from cops than a nice, well kept one. Or perhaps a modified car (rims, stereo, exhaust, tints) stands out to a cop more than a bone stock one.

Consider the difference between a bright yellow sports car vs dark grey sedan in traffic, certain cars earn attention and may have certain stigmas assigned to them, fair or not.

Also not saying any type of cars belongs to any particular race, just saying its likely a variable significant enough to consider..

I haven't read the study yet, but I would think they would control for that.

Regardless of race, red cars get pulled over more than brown/tan ones.

But I think the study controlled for things like that.

#$^# da police

Police are going to continue to treat us like second and third class citizens until we can get them removed from their jobs for misconduct.  And we have to do that by building an economic base in the black community.

Here's what some people miss about police:  they are first and foremost the protectors of property.  As a consequence of us not owning anything, police roam black neighborhoods ready to pull people over because they are protecting the economic interests of the lords who have invested in our neighborhoods.  Cops do what they want to us because they have absolutely ZERO accountability for their actions.

If black people want to improve their (our) collective situation in our communities and protect themselves from racist swine, we have to start pooling our money so that they know they can be removed for acting out of line.

I get pulled over all the time in my Infiniti. Had a cop in milwaukee straight up tell me "this is a nice car you know I can two it" this was 2 says after purchase I didn't have insurance. All te while this chick is on her phone and pulled a Uey at a 5 way intersection. Let's her go smh.

They take like 30 mins to run my credentials. I have a completely clean record. They try to find dirt man I swear. Brothers be safe!
