Relationship help vol. Ethnic tensions

This is ridiculous, I'm Jamaican and never seen this, your mother is way the **** out of line. I know we can have an odd sense of Caribbean superiority complex, its stupid. Haitians are some of the best people I know. Were all in it together man, don't be ******* stupid. Ignore your mom and let's keep progressing, we have enough **** out there against us to be entertaining what's essentially internal conflict. Haiti gets a raw deal all over when they should be black history celeb status.

Jamaica is multi racial, what he's saying is he could be a Jamaican of "Indian" descent. My FAM is a mix of that Indian, black, white and Chinese.

The Carribbean is filled with people of African, Latin, Asian and Indian descent. Its a beautiful thing. I myself am Coolie and Black.

Yes I am mostly black. Mom's mum got some indian in her. My dads fam got LOTS of Amerindian (native americans in south america/caribbean). My mom claims chinese from her father but she doesnt look it. More likely white.

Yeah its beutiful. My pointis though, that dude is actually of african heritage thus meaning he is black. More than likely if his chick from HAiti, she is black too , but thats all guess. OP will explain. I guess its kind of how Nigerians dont mess with Ghanians or Etiopians dont mess with somalis
 
OP, have you at least TALKED to your mother one on one? A sit down LOGICAL conversation? Explaining to her that she has NO logical reason to dislike your girl and is acting purely on ignorant emotion. Talk to your mother and tell her what you are telling us.

Jamaica in the British West Indies was where you sent the most unruly and rebellious slaves to be broken by the cruelest slave masters.  As a result we have a reputation for coming from a sort of "savage stock".  It's said as a bad thing instead of praise for our independent spirit and unwillingness to bow our heads to forced subjugation.  We also had the most maroon communities out of any island nation between the British, Spanish, and French empires.

They can't and this topic isn't about racism. As if you haven't been told everyone can be prejudice.

Who is being prejudged based off of the color of their skin? Which black person is creating law saying a group of a certain skin color is less human or property? or can't go to the same bathrooms? or their votes only count as a 3rd of the next person's?

I love it a west Indian thread to talk about this.

I'm a halfie, born here but my mother's side is jamaican Cuban and bajan.

My grandma who is bajan told me back in the 70s if u had dreads they assumed u were jamaican and wudnt let u off the plane if u flew to barbados. I have to hear it from my family on both sides. The worst part is my cuzins from the us don't have a clue as to what it means to be west Indian as to jus being African American
