KEVIN HART'S START THOUGH.

Soul plane a classic? Man ya trippin!

Friday is a classic. Boys in the hood is a classic. Idk what ya been watching

Sidenote: Outside of the Tyler Perry stuff and the variants . . . what happened to black comedy movies? What happened to black sitcoms?

Change in climate and terrible writing. Seems like a lot of the current black sitcoms are written by non-black writers with the perspective of what they think is funny to black people, or written by black people who are playing up their own stereotypes (and written by cornballs). To me, the last funny black sitcoms were Cuts, Girlfriends, Half & Half, and Eve. I loathe House of Payne, and all those sitcoms that come on Centric and TVOne on Saturdays (Braxton from Jamie Foxx Show as President?? Bill Bellamy as a teacher? :x :x) As far as the climate thing, and the writing as well, there's a glaring difference between things like Martin, Wayans Bros, and Different World vs the other stuff I mentioned. Damn shame.

This new wave called reality tv is what happened

But forreal the real husbands of hollywood is probably the only relevant black sitcom out if that counts as one

When it comes to black comedy movies, a haunted house was funny, never seen think like a man

Lmaooooo the Bill Bellamy one is a guilty please. It's so cheesy its entertaining lol.

But it's a damn shame Centric/MTV haven't linked with some new comedians to get some new black sitcoms. They stay showing Wayans, Jamie, Martin, Steve Harvey, Malcolm/Eddie, etc. so there's obviously a market for it.

Reality shows killed TV in general.

Real Husbands of Hollywood is probably the best in awhile but being on BET and with anti Kevin hart people a lot of people will never see it. Unless it has a cult like or strong online following a lot of shows get slept on.

With the movie game being the way it is...things are shifting a little though with big actors coming TV Halle, Martin Lawerence, Mcconaughey etc.

I was just thinking about how people support Love and Hip Hop so heavy, I wonder if they would do the same for a new black sitcom.

Everybody Hates Chris was a dope show, but to me a sitcom ain't a true sitcom without the laugh track/audience. I know that's a silly "rule" but IDK, it always made **** funnier.

#ntextremes

If OP started the thread with 'Soul Plane was a good movie' ya'll would be clowning him and put the movie down

Ahhhh, can't forget about Reality TV, basically everything after Road Rules/Real World. It really exploded after The Simple Life, so much to the point where everyone is scrambling to get famous some how, all the way up to IG/vine right now.

I dig Real Husbands of Hollywood as well, forgot about that. And Everybody Hates Chris  that was definitely a gem

F the simple life, flavor of love took reality tv to a different level, vh1 made reality tv a priority after that show :smh:

If you wanna get technical it was Big Brother/Survivor then American Idol that got the ball rolling. Those shows get GLOBAL love 12-14+ years later

The Simple Life helped turn it into a completely different animal. Bringing people who are known on some level into it instead of random people off the street.

Paris and Nicole were on NETWORK TV  ...not some random cable channel

Paris birthed Kim Kardashian who's the biggest person in the reality game.

Black-ish has potential. Premieres sept 24th. (Anthony Anderson,Tracy Ellis Ross and Lawrence Fishberne)

Black Jesus is pretty good.

^not surprised. money gets thrown around left and right.

i've mentioned this in the old casting couch threads, but hollywood is a weird place. to get to the top, ppl have to do so pretty wild stuff.

my friend use to work catering and they would do these big events for these execs and ppl running show biz and seen some crazy things at these gatherings/parties

Ya'll should hear the story about how Kev caught Patrice whacking off in his crib before they were both famous

Patrice also wonders how Kev got famous so quick and they scream at each other for a few minutes.

"Kev was a got damn PICKPOCKET yesterday!"

From Opie and Anthony.

Now you know daaaaaaamn well...you have to elaborate.

Reality TV was the death of TV

Real housewives, husbands, love & hip hop, survivor, kardashians, Jersey Shore, and all other related shows are just flat out garbage imo

I agree Everybody Hates Chris was the last good one. They need pull all of Tyler Perry's crap off the air, he needs to stick with movies that arent Madea related.

Black-ish [emoji]128169[/emoji][emoji]128169[/emoji] watched 1.5 episodes
