Anyone into Mountain Biking?

Looking to purchase a bike to take out on trails, but not sure what brand or what to get ...

Any help appreciated ...

Man I have had a Scwinn for like 8 years now. Never got a flat. Never had to make a repair. Maybe I am due for servicing. Don't know the model, but got it from a Target sale for $88. Best $100 I ever spent.

Ride about 3 times a day hard.

Im not sure ...

I don't mind spending money - but I don't think I need a 3k bike as its going to be for occasional riding while scouting mounting for photography .....

Maybe around 500-1000k

If I can find em use them I wouldn't mind ....

How much road vs off road biking do you plan on doing. Might want to look into a hybrid type bike if primarily road and light trails(not too rocky)

Saw you are looking to go out on trails in the OP. Look into getting a bike with front suspension at the least. And don't go cheap, should be able to find something in your $500-$1k budget.

Check out performancebike.com

They have good deals and offer a great bang for your buck. Recently bought my first road bike there for $700, where as a similar bike at a normal bike shop would have probably been $1-1.2k.

Also read up on components( Gears, shifters, etc.) That is primarily what determines the price of the bike, better components = more $.

You best best is to go to a local bike store and test ride a couple bikes. That's what I did and I ended up buying a cannondale trail 6 26er. I use mine to ride bike paths, went with a mtb for it's sturdiness

Do not purchase a bike online. I'd hit up a bike shop and test ride different bikes like son said above. Proper fit is everything.
