If you weren't from the "streets" and just heard Quik from his first two albums, you wouldn't know that Quik is a blood. Until Safe + Sound, then he made it obvious.
If you were to judge Kendrick off his music, it would be hard to tell if he's Piru. He doesn't even dress like one in his music videos other than Rigamortis

Nah never heard the Red Tape, but I'm just speaking from the perspective of the average hip hop listener. Most of them first heard Quik from Quik is the Name, and he doesn't make it obvious. When I first listened to Kenny on Overly Dedicated and Section 80, I wouldn't know what set he's really from, all I know he's from Compton. Other than those three times he wore red, the dude mostly wears white or black on his media appearances.
Just go on hiphopheads on Reddit and tell them Kendrick is a Piru, most of them would be shocked.

It's "brazy" :lol: how Kenny is mostly lowkey doe and can still find a way to put a spotlight on his set. Also just realized he had them on the cover of TPAB. Guy really is a genius.

Glenn if you are really listening he's made a ton of blood references since he has came out.

Also his name nick name/first rap name is k dot.

Also to point back to a couple years ago no one just wears a all red paisey print t shirt or button up from Compton just cause it's fun.

I'm almost sure I've seen him in blue paisley shirts similar to the one above.

He could very well be Piru, but I agree that he really doesn't put that out there. The Quik comparison sounds pretty accurate.
 
People are still debating his gang ties?  If you've followed his career from the beginning and not just Section.80, you would have no question where his flag hangs.  At the very least, he is heavily affiliated.
 
Do people just not want him to be a Piru? Doesn't seem like he's being low-key about it anymore, especially after watching the Noisey videos. But he's not screaming it either... just doing enough to keep people confused.

He's probably doing his best to not be viewed through the judgemental eyes of the average white American and **** up his money. Because once Fox or some news station runs the headline "Grammy winning rapper is a known gangbanger", that's ****** up his Reebok, money etc.

Plus he really seems to be on some revolutionary **** that he really doesn't discuss. He seemed a little shocked when that reporter asked him about donating money to his high school. Like he doesn't want his moves to be broadcasted too much.
