**Official Kendrick Lamar Thread 4th Studio Album ''DAMN.''Out Now**

HTTBX

Let's not play that game.

You a OG. You know how it go.

To say that is ignorance is laughable.

You've always had a opinion I've respected. And you OG status round here.

But don't make it into that bro.
I appreciate that, and always respected what you had to say here...I just disagree with the way you came in here spewing racial stereotypes and then expecting to get some respect that you weren't giving.

I don't think it's our place to draw racial lines and tell people that something wasn't made for them. Let the music speak for itself. It speaks loudly enough.

That's just my opinion, though. More seem to agree with you than not.

Serious question, why cant we ALL treat people as PEOPLE. Why do we all have to bring race into everything.

your naivety is comical man.
race NEEDS to be brought into discussion.
it's ok to promote peace, but I'm quite proud to be a black man and I'm not going to hide/ignore that.
equality doesn't exist, so don't act like ignoring race is going to change that lol no matter how much you think it will.
I find it funny that after all the atrocities whites have committed against not only my race but many others...now ya'll wanna ignore race

shut up.

...and I don't agree with none of the nonsense son is spewing.
this album is a masterpiece and everyone should be able to enjoy it.

My bad man. I meant as Kendrick fans and hip hop fans when I typed that.

Obviously we can't ignore race and there are a lot of issues at hand in the real world. I fully agree with you there.

It's NTers that know me from REAL life situations.

I'm no ghost.

I ain't even suppose to be here. I was facing 25 years this time 2 years ago.

What their doin to the judge on the cover is how me and all the others brothas I was in prison with feel.

I think after reading these debates Imma cop this album n disect. I'm never one to run out n purchase, it usually takes me a while to find out someone's put out some wonderful work.
With that being said I can fully relate with the point trim is trying to get across to y'all. It brings me a vision of what this album must be. The last time I had that vision was when MAKAVELI came out.

The album just draws from the entire black experience there's truly been nothing like it in its entirety.

"King Kunta" could be in the middle of the Chronic and it would fit perfectly.

"These Walls" coulda been on Midnight Maraurders or Like Water For Chocolate. It's THAT soulful.

"Alright" is as good as a lyrical display by an MC riding the double time flow since BIG on "Notorious Thugs". And the song is as hype as ANYthing crunk music has ever produced.

The story telling on "How Much A Dollar Cost" is as entertaining, attention grabbing, and thrilling as anything Slick Rick.Ghost.NaS.or BIG have done but it's as heart felt as a 2Pac record.

"Blacker The Berry" is as unapologetically black as early NWA. Cube. PE or dead prez have ever made.

"Mortal Man" is like NaS "what goes around" x 2Pac "Against All Odds"

It's just an overall body of work. I refuse to call it an album. This is a survival Manuel. This is our ancestors speaking to us. This is "Physical and mental" like he said 4 years ago. This is SOUL music. This one's for the spirit.band not everybody is gonna understand that.

Nothing wrong with that. But if you got the knowledge of self this is gonna be spiritual healing for you. This is the type of work you suggest to ANYone hip hop fan or not. I feel like if you black understanding this album could mean the difference between freedom and slavery. Life or death. And I mean that physically and spiritually.

^^Agree with that. This **** is spirits, as Tupac said to Kendrick at the end of the album.

It's our dead speaking to us.

I can't lie, I agreed with a lot of those posts though.

You not gonna ever disrespect Jim Carrey though. One of the funniest white guys of all time my guy.

Let's be HONEST.
the first words spoken on this album is " EVERY ***** IS A STAR"
That's the first thing you hear. Do y'all believe in coincidence? He referred to white women as a "Blue eyed devil" not even 8 bars into the album.

BLACK MAN TAKING NO losses.

Is it really a mystery who he made this album for? Are y'all that delusional? Kendrick has an agenda with this album y'all think this is JUST music? did you listen to it?

Is Kendrick not "race baiting"?

He's sending out a message and this album was made to create the type of Convo we're havin but it's quite telling OUR people are dying in the streets every ******* day. The victims of environmental. Systematic. And good ole fashion racism and my opinion on an album deeply offends some. It's very telling. It lets you know they enjoy the music. They'll (try to) dance to it. Go to concerts and all but when it comes to following through with the messages of the music they're nowhere to be found. These are the people he talkin bout on "Mortal Man". These erase history hold hands type.

If the only way you can respect me is NOT seeing my skin color you have the problem NOT me. I want you to see the fact that I'm black and BETTER respect it. This ain't the 1700s, it's gonna be things in this country that ain't for white people the same way y'all got a million things y'all have JUST started to allow others into.

How is this surprising or offensive to you when I say it but when it's the theme of a 78 minute album it isn't? Or do I gotta tap dance for you while I say it? I'm not entertaining enuff for my opinion to matter to you huh.

I ride with Kendrick 100% on EVERYthing this album represents. And when I met him Thursday I looked him in his eye and let him know that.

The beauty of this album is as BLACK as it is, anyone can enjoy it. But everybody ain't gonna be about that life. They just enjoy our culture they don't really enjoy us as people unless your the forgiving non confrontational safe negro. Racism is just a prevalent within hip hop fans as it is in any other walk of life and thats why records like "Alright", "Blacker The Berry" & "Mortal Man" exist. Kendrick knows y'all don't **** with us forreal you're just entertained by our GOD given gifts and creativity.

Finally finished listening to this album...

This album is far different from "G.O.O.D. Kid, M.A.A.D. City". Everything from the instrumentation to some of the subject matter.

I'm glad Kendrick dared to experiment and try something different. This kid has a classic mixtape and two classic albums. This guy is here to stay. :pimp:

It's not even a rap album to me, honestly. More like a music album. It's just pure music and spoken word. I didn't think he could top his classic debut...

Ladies and Gentemen, Kendrick has done jus' that.

"They just enjoy our culture they don't really enjoy us as people unless your the forgiving non confrontational safe negro. "
If that ain't the most MUTHA******* truth.
Believe it or not many choose to not believe that. It comes as an insult but .... Truth hurts
**** is so so real.
