I honestly think this is one of those albums that will age like fine wine. Horrible to some at first, then the best thing you've ever tasted years from now...

Kendrick stans are on the same level as dudes that force religion on others....aiight dawg, we get it, you love his music, tell me why and i should listen, but dont force me to feel somethin that aint my flavor. If i **** wit it, i **** wit it. The lane he made is coo, i respect it, i can only try to understand it, but it aint my flavor dawg. I can only respect what hes doin. But for some of yall n****z, thT aint good enough, and yall assume we listen to future and migos. FOH. CUz i domt listen to either one ese.

I'm listening to the album as I type this and I just don't understand how somebody can say it's wack...

To say it's not your type of music is one thing... But this is wack??? Incredible.

And it explains why theses wack rappers are flourishing so much these days. :smh:

Take it with a grain of salt I suppose but my opinion changed on this dramatically. 

Once I familiarized myself with all the songs, lyrics, etc it quickly turned to an album you can just hang out to and whatnot instead of focusing intently on every word.

I don't even listen to current rappers like that
But u have ur opinion and I have mine
His rhyme schemes on the album just don't appeal to me
 
i just wanna put it out there... that the same dude who said "it's like u can't really even nod ur head cause the melodies ain't there" also said he's waiting for jay elec... probably the most monotone rapper out. u dont like kendricks album cuz u cant nod ur head and u cant spit to it in the car with your friends... but u can sit at a red light and spit "Call me Jay ElecHanukkah, Jay ElecYamaka, JayElecRamadaan muhammad asalameleikum rasoul allah subhanahu wata ala through ya monitor" got it. Im not knockin jay elec at all (except for the fact that his album has been done for 2 years and he slept on himself, a disservice to hiphop) but ur opinions clash with each other

I dont understand how so many of his detactors end up in his Threads.

There's a million threads on NT Migos ain't my cup of tea, so if I see their thread, I keep it pushin. There's nothing I can add to that dialogue.

The reason Jay detractors end up in his Threads is cauase for the most part, ANY self respecting hip hop fan has at one time or another been in tuned with Jay's music. And I mean, he's still Jay Z
 
Yea I don't get that either... I haven't been in a Migos or Lil B thread... Why would I go in there? Just to say they suck? Like what do people get out of that?

Not trying to argue at all .. But what makes illmatic better .. What's your definition of a classic album?


IMO I think TPAB is concepted more beautifully than illmatic

Nas debut album did switch the game though

Illmatic is the greatest representation of hip hop from the arts conception up until the point Life After Death came out.

The importance of Illmatic, outside of it musically being a MASTERPIECE is the fact that it takes the ENTIRE hip hop experience and sets it in stone and it was something the artforn hadn't seen in that level. Illmatic will ALWAYS be to me, the OLD testament of the hip hop BIBLE. It will never be forgotten nor will it ever get OLD because the story Illmatic illustrates is infinite. It predates hip hop. It's the urban Manuel for survival for the 60s, 70s, & 80s babies. And I personally feel that TPAB is an extension of that. NaS DNA will always be in any REAL MC. And NaS is an extention of those that inspired him. He's the dream of MC Shan and Marley Marl and them, so when we listen to NaS subconsciously we're also in tuned with all his influences.

I don't know if they should be compared per se, they're great chapters in the book of hip hop.

These are 2 prophets. Let's just pray they work TOGETHER.

who are these wack rappers that are flourishing? the genre was on life support for like 11 and a half months last year.

J. cole is the only one to go platinum last year. sales were down 25%

2014 is up there with 2008 as the worst year for rap ever..

2015 first qtr has been great quality wise and now sales are picking up a bit . drake did just go plat with his mixtape /album w/e it was..and now kendrick is gold so far.
