Richmond, VA man commutes 7 hours total each day for his "dream job" in DC.

The normal reaction to transportation infrastructure improvements in the DMV:

First-Man someone gotta do something to help with this traffic, it is ridiculous

Then-OH Word! you got a plan. Sounds Amazing!!!

Finally-Hold Up! Hold Up! This road/train/whatever gonna be passing through my neighborhood. **** THAT, not in my backyard, put it somewhere else.

Then Again:
-Man someone gotta do something to help with this traffic, it is ridiculous :smh::smh:

Saw this in NoVa with the Silver Line expansion, all the signs in the yard proposing no to the new bus lines that would have to drive through there to get people to the station.

Not that great, great PMs out here making 120K-150K easy.
to be fair to him, he is a federal employee, which does have certain income limits and if its his "dream" job what more can you do...

Bethesda/ Chevy Chase residents are doing this too with the Purple Line going up...

Dont know if this was touched on...

What kind of car does he drive?

(At work cant see vid)

Traffic must be a ***** if it takes him 3 1/2 hours to go 110 miles....

Averaging 31MPH

I'd go insane. Couldn't do it.

He won't move because everyone he loves is there? Fool, you ain't moving across country. It's 110 miles! Move and visit on the weekends...

The one thing that blew me was having to catch a train from MD, into DC, then back out to MD to go to work (Orange line from New Carrollton, connect to Red then end up in Rockville). It was the same time as driving, but my job reimbursed travel costs. Ultimately started driving there once they paid for the garage at work.

Purple line gonna help others in that situation.

Once you get maybe 10-20 miles past f'burg, traffic is a ***** during morning/evening commute

he doesnt actually drive the full distance from Richmond to DC...he carpools from Fredberg to Arlington, then catches the Metro...

his actual driving distance, according to Google maps, is 59.9 miles one way, 120 miles rount trip (assumed)...

I'll say it again I can't believe I complained man. I timed it once I got off work today It took 45 minutes from D.C to downtown Baltimore. That's dealing with Nsa traffic and Nasa traffic straight 295N.

Crazy driving in the snow was easier than a regular commute during peak times. I drove during one of the crazy snow storms being from the NW I was moving. Never again tho so many wrecks and non groomed roads..it was insane. And I grew up driving in the mountains.

are we supposed to believe he is living the american dream?
or feel bad we don't subject ourselves to such a commute?

f that

I met this one lady back i the day who lived in Waldorf MD and commuted daily to Richmond VA.  She took the 301 South across the Nice Bridge daily.  I thought she was crazy, but she loved her job, whatever she did, i forget.

Those living in the DMV for a while know the WAYS to beat traffic. IF you haven't wised up on this area yet, something wrong with you.

That's a clean drive though. Doable without traffic if you love driving and have a dope whip.

Yes leave out earlier look Lol. You SOL if your trying to get from VA into DC after aroung 7:30. PG has it easier tho I can hop on suitland Parkway and have a somewhat smoove commute.

Correct. ITs really that simple. You really think you not gonna be in traffic if you leave NOVA to DC after 7am?  Come on bruh. Time it out. I rather be at work extra early and eat my breakfast and chill than be stuck in one spot for one hour.

You can hit 80K-100K with the govt, like i said if your that good your gonna get those high salaries govt or not.

 The hell. How does the crossing the border situation work over there?

its not bad, actually very good. ive done it before, immigration process in singapore side is fast, malaysia side is a bit slower, but still fast.
i feel for my supervisor but i think he's been doing it for years so it doesnt bother him anymore.

i would rather take less money and have a better quality of life.
I'm currently crashing on a couch at a friends place for 2 weeks because I didnt want to move back home and commute an hour and a half to work each way while I am waiting to move into my new place

7 hours...he could move his immediate family with him to a closer spot and just drive up to the rest of the fam on the weekend...this sounds like a draining life style but if he's happy I salute him.

dude is smoking dope...he makes enough money to move to Manassas and have a even drive both ways.
