I have an upcoming interview to be a correctional officer. Just curious how the process goes. Any input (inb4 pepper your angus) would be appreciated.

My cousin is one at a fed pen in Alabama...but I couldn't tell you anything about the process... Good luck in there!

*craziest story she told me was she was working at the Metro Correction Complex in Chicago and two murderers busted open a window and shimmied y down the building...

Because I know exactly what ***** *** ***** looks like in asterisks.

I have no knowledge on that OP. Are you ready for that kind of stress if you get the job? Heard a lot of them "run it" in there on the low. :nerd: Be careful.

Lol if you get the job be prepared to see some crazy stuff. One of my boys use to be a correctional officer he went to night shift one week thinking it was going to be easy shift. He went to do his normal walk through and walks up on two dudes getting it on or should I say in.

Not trying to go in and meet Noriega, just trying to provide for my family. As far as the stress goes, can't be any more stressful than what I'm currently going through. Definitely going to keep my head on a swivel

Just don't give it up as soon as you get there, hold out until you find out who is really running things. They will respect you more.

i know a couple COs, some active some retired. you definitely need thick skin for the job and i hear in training they pepper spray you and the whole 9 so be prepared for that. i'm sure there are some forums that some CO's post on where you could get some better first hand insight.

I'm not a CO, but I worked in the prison system for over 3 years.  Here you gotta pass the academy first, but all your training up until you go is paid.  They basically shadow established CO's around the prison, take some classes and do PT.  Then they hit the academy, hopefully graduate and come back as COs and get that pay raise.

You'll see some wild **** though.  I spent a lot of time behind the gate at my old job and I saw some crazy ****--I can't imagine what COs see, as they spend all of their shift back there.  Essentially, prepare to see what you see on the street behind bars.  It's all there--drugs, alcohol, disease, relationships, fighting, death, piss, ****, sex, blood, etc.

Reading about the job, Idk how I'd feel about having feces and other bodily fluids thrown in my face. But I guess it comes with the job. I also read it's a really hard adjustment going from work to home.

I'm always looking for a new challenge, and this definitely is going to be a challenge.

To the folks who have provided insight and suggestions, I appreciate it.

Pray for me.

My friend's pops is a retired CO now, he only 41 :x. That pension must be crazy.

Unless she's at the Indiana facility, I doubt she'll be of much assistance.i will pm you about something related. Repped

Yeah, I'm not planning on bringing home life to work. But that's my approach regardless of the job.

That's crazy to hear about your family trying to kill himself to make a point to his father. I'll keep that in mind when it comes to my children. I hope your cousin is ok now.
