So I broke my leg

August 6th I was riding my bike (2 year hobby) on the Brooklyn bridge going downhill and some dickhead walked onto the bike lane and clipped me as I was going downhill at a high speed. Ended up losing control and fell. Ended up in hospital and all of a sudden I have a tibial plateau fracture (upper shin bone) had surgery a couple weeks ago and the doctor says everything went well. Been out of commission since the accident and probably have another 5 weeks until I can actually put weight on the leg. Anyone had a similar injury? I haven't been outside since the surgery and I'm itching to hit the gym again and go riding. I am accepting paypal donations @ jgsincere@gmail.com (lol I'm serious). Anybody ever recover completely from a fracture injury? I feel like my left leg will forever be fragile View media item 1184711View media item 1184712View media item 1184713View media item 1184714View media item 1184715

That sucks man.

Broke my foot snowboarding in Feb. Still isnt healed (non union) but I was able to put weight on it (with a walking boot) about 5 weeks after. Im cleared to deadlift and squat but no running yet.

It sucks but your leg shoudnt be any more fragile now. Its all mental. Broken leg > torn ligament by fat.

Aye what's good mayor, been a long time.

That does majorly suck :x

Hope you recover fast man.

Having to stop doing your hobby because of something like this just gnaws at you. Stay positive and before you know it, you will be in the Tour de France. :pimp:

So you can say my leg will be stronger than it was before after the bone heals? Feel like my leg is going to break in half if I ever try a heavy deadlift again

Yeah man, its all mental. Once its healed it will be as strong as ever.

Torn acl = weak acl forever. Bones are different.

My old Halo buddy. What's good? at Tour de France. Furthest I've biked was 24 miles...but yea. I miss riding so much, fam. I gained 10 pounds already

follow u on twitter..sucks brah ain't **** you can do about it man except rest and fully recover to 100%

I broke my pinky a few months ago I know how it feels not being Able to hit the weights. Now I'm all good and have been going hard ever since I fully recovered. 4 weeks of not being able to use my hand weakened it a lot I swear my left arm was more stronger now it's my right smh lol.

you be aiight though bruh, my mentally was my broken bone could've been a whole lot worse, and they say broken bones grow back stronger right?! i started taking calcium pills during the beginning of my recovering and plan on doing so for the rest of my life. Good luck to you man rest up and be mentally content before u start going in in the gym. and when u do go harder than ever :pimp:

oh and get them edibles B

Just a question....I noticed you dont have a back break....do you think that added to the accident.....I dont have one either and wen I go fast downhill I feel like if I slam the break im gonna flip forward.

Helmet?

At least u aint one o dem cats wit no breaks.

Speedy recovery

Sucks man. The injuries you can sustain from falling off a bike are no joke. A dude I know fell and broke his arm. Even after PT he can no longer fulling extend it. Is made me think twice about cycling.

Man I never appreciated weed (can we say this on NT?) more, my dude. It's the ultimate pain reliever. Was in so much pain after surgery and after I smoked, I literally thought I could walk .

Yessir. It's why I didn't hit my brake when I was speeding downhill. I would've flipped forward. It's one of the downsides of having just a front brake. It's not my first accident. Really considering a rear brake...just hate all the wiring. But yea, gotta have brakes. Too dangerous to ride in busy cities without them...and no helmet. My head is big as is...would look too stupid with a helmet (of course until I bust my head open but I'm
Not really worried about falling on my head)

Should've sued that dude man.

Good luck on the recovery. Watch Premium Rush while you're recovering so you can become a better bike rider  :pimp:

Man I've been cycling every other day for almost two years now. I bike from
Brooklyn to the upper west side of manhattan to work all the time and this is only my second accident..and even after breaking my tibia I'm still itching to ride again. Something about cycling, man. It's too fun

Sorry to hear that OP. I've never fractured anything but I've had four ACL tears so I can relate on the downtime. It sucks. lol. You can look for a new hobby or develop a new skill that you don't need to be mobile for.... helps pass the time. Netflix/hbogo/hulu helps, you could get into a new show.....

Just don't stress yourself out over how much it sucks, that **** will just make you feel even worse. Also, keep an eye on your diet since you're probably a lot more sedentary while you're recovering.

On a side not, I've been getting into cycling recently too, it's mad fun :smokin

I don't see myself doing it for any races or to workout, but it's cool biking around the city, finding cool rides and spots. Going over to miami beach on the venetian causeway and back, and the shark valley everglades ride are some of my favorite ones that I do. Just gotta be safe bc there are some real terrible drivers down here

Speedy recovery. Watch what you eat. Don't wanna add even more weight. Its gonna affect your knee when you're up and running again.
