Yo realtalk, New York may be the worst city ever

Please define the type of DC culture you'd like to see more of - all I know is politics, transplants, mumbo sauce, go-go music and commuting into the city from the Maryland/Virginia suburbs.

(I do live here.)

You forgot biting off of NY on that list
Don't get me started

DMV still holding on to the Nike boots?

Not anymore. Died off a long time ago. But they used to be

Brah, Nike boots were popular in the DMV way before 2008, get outta here with that.

Same deal with the nonsense about the DMV biting NYV on Foams.

NYC, London, Miami, Toronto....my top 4 cities. Can anyone guess what they have in common that makes them my top 4?

I have had family in Toronto begging me to come over there. But I have a misdemeanor from 2009. Looked into it they love to send people who paid for their tickets straight back so I wont even risk it. Ohh well.

So ****** overrated. Like everything about it sucks. One thing, these entitled little douchebagz who roam the streets with their beats by dre rapping obnoxiously

then the smell. Like stale urine :x  . Rats on every corner. Pigeons being aggressive
the filthy bums who ride the trains. The Knicks being terrible. Not being able to catch a cab when needed. ****** sucks

/rant

I kinda hear that from time to time.

^ the art scene will be one of the only things I miss when I decide to leave.

OP Im with you, I got flamed when I said something about NYC being overrated. Born and raised in NYC, I get around. There's a large quantity of things going on but not a large quality of things going on. No one wants to admit that.....the high cost of living and cold weather make it a no brainer to find somewhere else to settle down. I'd be happy with visiting for the summer and going back

Nyc is the greatest place ive visited and ive been to a lot of places throughout my life. When i came home from a visit i was already planning my next trip back.

I lived in London for the longest and it didnt occur to me how large the Caribbean population is since it is mostly Jamaican. I keep forgetting they are Caribbean and not African.

The latin population aint poppin tho. That keeps the city from being perfect. Truly the only real advantage NYC has is all them Dominicans, Cubans, and Puerto Ricans. Bring that to London and its a tie between the two cities.

Chicago has a sick as skyline compared to NYC, plus it doesn't have all that pretentious BS that Manhattan festers. Out of all the big cities, Chitown is the only one I've been too that didn't feel fake, prentintious, or show-off(ie). Too bad it's cold as hell.

I'll admit Chicago has the best skyline and architecture of any city I have ever been in, which is quite a few. Chicago really benefited from the fire tbt. But NYC is at least stepping their game up. They contracted Chicago architects for a few of the upcoming supertalls. But I'd rather live in a trash looking city than a trash one. Also I like how NYC looks at street level if that makes sense. When you are walking around it is a much more captivating city than Chicago imo. But looking at it from afar then Chicago takes the lead.

Chicago has much worse pretentious pricks than NYC, just a lot fewer since the city is smaller. If the conversation ever comes up, you will not be considered a true chicagoan unless you were born and raised her. Thats how Chicagoans are with their weak *** midwest inferiority complex. :smh: But they claim Kanye who was born in Chicago. Don't matter if you lived here 20 years Chicagoans love to belittle you not being "true chicagoan".

Pretentious people all over Lakeview, Wrigleyville, and the surrounding areas.

People here don't know how to style and it hurts my soul.

The segregation here is disgusting. Literally the worst in America. Even worse than cities in southern states (seriously look it up). :smh:

Honestly I met a lot of NYers who say "if you pay taxes here you are a NYer". After all 1 in 3 NYers were born outside the country.

Subway >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> L trains. No two ways about it.

Chicago makes my ******* **** soft

NYC > London >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> No other city matters

Your making NYC look bad with all that hate.

In terms of cities that have a similar feel to NYC....gotta be Chi-town and Philly hands down. Both great cities. I actually lived in Chicago earlier this year and it was super brick city out there. But the thing is that Chicago feels like a small subsection of Manhattan, and just Manhattan...not the outer boroughs. What really works for Chicago is that within that small subsection (in comparison to Mahattan), it is jam-packed with great things. It gives you this feel that it's your own small personal city, and that's what I liked most about that place. The people aren't trying to hard, Chicago itself isn't trying too hard and their authentic. Whereas NYC is filled with a bit more yuppies.

Philly, while it has it's yuppies, is still a real authentic grimey city. Driving through philly you felt like a majority of the place was a big neighborhood. I didn't really get a sense of there being separate neigborhoods with different types of people. It all felt nicely uniform. Downtown area was really nice as well. Great museums and public attractions. Would def. consider living there.
