Nike Zoom Hypercross Trainer

So people didn't heel strike before large heels were added to sneakers?

You can believe the whole "minimalist" movement yellers that you shouldn't.  Or listen them that no human ever heel strike every in human history till shoes became a thing...

Either ways what I'm saying is that heel striking is a acceptable form of running and the vast majority of people run this way.  It wouldn't have been that big of a deal to include a zoom unit near the heel like the Lebron 12.  If it was taken out for cost than sure, fine I'll deal.  However it would've been nice and cool to have one.

Yeah I thought what he said was kind of ridiculous but I didn't feel like arguing with him

If you take running seriously on a competition level, they do make you and you should run mid/fore foot.

But the rest of the casual market will do whatever they want to do when they run.

I hear you but this is a cross training shoe not a running shoe.

I was wondering if the zoom heel would help when lifting or doing high intensity work.  I would think it would be more comfortable for just standing in place.  Still might grab a pair if i can find them for well under retail

I hope Nike's new Metcon that is coming out in February will meet the needs of HIIT and Crossfit workouts.  I had hope for the zoom hypercross but after some more testing it is a failure IMO.  Basically an overhyped shoe with some cool tech in it that appears designed to appeal to fashionistas.

The Metcon will more than likely meet the needs for crossfit since it's specifically made to rival the nano for crossfitters

Guess if that's what you want and some might, you'll have to wait for the Lebron 12 lows, if they make them the same.... Unlike the 11 where the low was different from the normal.

Agree. I'm glad I went with a 12 as an 11.5 would have been too tight. I did find that they run long and that it is a bit uncomfortable at first since the plastic toebox crunches each time I step.

Yeah i had the same problem...heel comfort is exceptional but i think ill be returning them, cant justify the price.

For lifting you want these joints...

I've been thinking about a pair of Romaleo's for a while.  But really only to use for squat days.  On deadlift day i like being low to the ground so i wear free 3.0's.  I also do box jumps on deadlift days and jump rope.  So i like to have a good all around shoe.

Thinking i will grab a pair of hypercross's on a discount at some point.  The reviews in this thread have basically said cop these last.  Will be grabbing Lunar TR1's soon and a new pair of 5.0 trainers.

Wait so people really do run without their heel ever touching the floor?

My heel hits the floor every stride, even a sprint...I always thought it was just a natural motion.

From my limited knowledge, it is the initial contact that is talked about when people mention heel/midfoot/forefoot strike. It doesn't mean your heel never touches the ground during the gait cycle.

Here are a couple of articles about the various types of foot strike.

A stable sole to go from deadlifts, squats, kettlebells etc. to sprints, rowing, burpees etc.  Breathability in the upper and  durability for rope climbs.  It's probably fine if you want to just go hop on a treadmill or elliptical trainer for a bit but do a WOD or some HIIT training and you'll find the weaknesses in a hurry.

Agreed, I certainly wouldn't wear these for my CrossFit workouts.
I wear mine for my outdoor training (which involves mostly sprints and various drills) and they seem great for that so far.

Interesting.

I really had high hopes for these as the previous zoom based shoes I've used for lifting were the OG FK Trainers and then the Zoom Revis'. Sounds like these cant hold a flame to the other two.

Seems like these will be on heavy discount as well so no need to act now.

These weren't aimed for crossfit so why would they accommodate to a typical crossfitters needs?? If a crossfit shoe is what your looking for then grab some nanos or wait for the metcons.

Was able to get my hands on a pair of these for free thanks to a friend of mine. Would I pay $140 for them? Na but there aren't a lot of shoes i'd pay that much for to go beat em up (besides Romaleos).

Wore them all day yesterday and they fit TTS for me, and I don't have a narrow foot or anything.  They were a little stiff and clunkier compared to other nike trainers i've worn but I got used to them as the day went on.  Wore them to lift and and tested them out just a little with some plyos and agility. When walking around and landing from jumps you notice the cushioning but its nothing mesmerizing. The increased surface are on the sole at certain points were noticed with some agility work and kept my entire foot on the ground when make some cuts, usually you can feel a shoe "leaning" when cutting and I felt the sole plus the stiffness of the shoes helped with that.

All in all I like em, do they compare to cheeper trainers like the 5.0 (fingertrap) no. I'll do more with em soon so maybe I can go further. Would probably get em in another color or 2 on discount or an east bay 20% off deal.

Tried to get the black/silver but was sent the navy/blue. It looks black/blue in stock photos, which I didn't like too much but when I saw it in person I saw it was navy and i'm liking the combo

Romaleos are a revelation for every lfit IMO. Bench, squat, power cleans, are all much easier in the Romaleos. As for deadlifts-that's up to you. I like the extra pull I receive from my quads.

The best part about Romaleos? Odds are they last 10 years.

The more I wear these, the more i'm loving them.  Love the support from these, some may call them stiff, I call it support. Wore them all day yesterday and wore em to run errands this am.  Like I said before, not as light as other Nike trainers but all in all I like them.

Took some jump videos in them and put them on my IG: @Juwhitehead8 if you wanna check them out.

How these looking so far ??

Comfortable but size up .5 size

That the consensus so far
