Are bloggers really making money?

I realize some of the top bloggers do make a very good living (ie. Food babe,Worldstar). But on the street culture side
of things, I often see bloggers being invited to said events at Nike, Columbia (insert whatever brand) and
it seems like there really making a solid living, traveling taking HD pictures of new products or just using the
press release from certain companies form their site. Not to mention the majority of sites typically have identical
information.

I look up some of these sites because the potential revenue generated interest me, but a majority of these blog's
get little to no traffic at all. How is it possible for these sites to get no traffic when they have 90k+ instagram
followers? Typically I see a trend were the comment sections under new material is non-existent. Are these
sites just recycling material and hyping a brand?, and if so why would a company fly out a blogger and house them
with a site that generates no traffic, and very little personal opinion of the material being sold?

And finally are they really making a living or is it a front, or personal hobby?

^^Ahh thanks for the information, I knew something was going on. That 4% is most likely vets in the game for sure.

That last paragraph makes it interesting tho.

I just googled it im sure other nters/bloggers will chime in with better info lata.

I assume the money is made through affiliates, etc with the blog itself being used as a means to put yourself out there.

That's what it's looking like, a majority of these sites have tons of ad's all over. But being in the 4% mark for them I just can't
see it. The content they provide is truly copy and pasted. I guess the same can be said about hip-hop blogs and such. I just
assume its a facade and their grinding away at a desk job like I am, when not covering a event.:smh:

$1000-$9999 is such a large range though, they could've broken that up into $1000-$4999 and $5000-$9999. Which would make more sense because that would be more or less the divide between a part-time salary and a full-time salary.

I know this chick that runs a fashion/dressing better blog, She makes like 6 figures, enough for her and her husband to quit their day jobs. Now they just travel the world and blog. That's pretty sweet.

Worldstar isn't a blog. Its a video hosting site that makes money from advertising, clicks and data mining like YouTube.

Yeah, there are bloggers making money. It helps a lot if you're part of a media network like the Complex Media Network for example. The thing that sucks is that they are independent contractors for the most part so they have to pay back taxes via a 1099.

She makes like 6 figures, enough for her and her husband to quit their day jobs.

Some man :x
