Pop Warner Football.

I was wonder does Pop Warner really help kids succeed on HS level if they played Pop Warner or any little league football. Is Pop Warner football really that good? did any of you play?

I think a lot of dudes who end up being good football players are too big to play Pop Warner. Theres a weight limit, so if you're a hefty kid you might get put on a team with older kids.

It also goes the other way around. For example if you're in the 9th grade and weigh under 150 you can play Pop Warner instead of go out for your HS freshman team.

Its a commitment . Practice M - F 5 to 7. Helmet only walkthroughs Saturdays at 9am. Games on Sunday.

Its a good experience IMO. Travelling to other towns. Working hard in practice.

It introduces kids to the sport so I guess naturally it helps, but I wouldn't have my kids playing pop Warner.
 
Excuse my ignorance but what's the difference between Pop Warner and the league my nephew played in when he was young and just pitted local elementary/middle schools vs each other?

Interesting you mentioned about the bigger kids cuz in my city too, the ones that ended up being good in hs/college didn't play pop warner but played unlimited( no weight or position restrictions)

Pop warner is usually different rec centers/ leagues from nearby towns n cities playing each other which aren't usually associated with a school...sounds like your nephew played for a school team
 
Yeah he did, wasn't sure if that was under the umbrella of Pop warner or separate. Good info
 
Played all thorough intermediate in late 80s. Day care for that extra 2-3 hrs for mom pops to work as well. Heard that Oklahoma drills don't occur no more. What?
 
^^^that video you posted isn't about a pop warner league. Its a TYFA league which is more competitive and has no weight restrictions. They are different organizations with different restrictions.
