Explanation: In Hollywood, it seems like all you need to blow a car to smithereens is a gun and a gas tank. A garage-full of flicks depict people destroying automobiles by shooting straight into to the tank, triggering a massive explosion.
But when MythBuster Jamie Hyneman bored into a Cadillac's full gas tank with a barrage of bullets, no such detonation went down. His six slugs simply ripped right through the tank and out the other side of the otherwise intact sedan.
With no flames to be found, Jamie's gas tank target practice busted the cinematic motor myth.

dude tapped his back pocket and felt no wallet, turned at a normal pace to reach back into his car. cop gave him no time to do anything he was asked to do.
cop yelled get out of the car and before he could finish saying it the second time was firing shots. cop should get at least 15 yrs and dude should get fairly compensated.

I watched this w no sound the first time... Was not surprised at all about the cops reaction to the way the guy moved.
I've now seen it with the video and it makes a world of difference.
Point being the dudes movement into the car is pretty unnerving without the context of the cop telling him to produce his ID.

I still contend that there is responsibility on both sides to respect each other. Cops respecting citizens and citizens respecting cops.
There's already a ton of "**** the police", "******* pigs", "swine", "all cops are pigs" etc comments in this thread. You think that attitude helps the situation? I sure as **** don't.
Nobody in here posting any stories and no one out their writing stories about the good things that a cop does.
Some cops are just regular dudes who want to do their job the way its supposed to be done and go home to their kids and I've seen an NTer say "I laugh when a cop gets killed". **** is disgusting.

i would like to see a case study on the number of black males and females falsely accused and shot vs cops who have been assaulted or shot.

They cant know what is going to happen during a traffic stop... A cop shouldn't have to be laying his life on the line every time he pulls someone for speeding or not wearing a seatbelt.

All the "I can understand where the cop was coming from talk or he reached in the car fast" is funny when you consider that the cop was fired. It takes a lot for the cops in these shooting situations to be suspended yet alone fired. If you get fired that means what you did wasn't reasonable in the eyes of your peers which is pretty compelling. All we ever hear is how these police officers are following their training but this guy didn't follow his training.
I'm just glad that no one lost their life. This man will rightfully sue and win and the local tax payers will be left paying the bill. We need to curb sovereign immunity. Maybe if these individuals or institutions would have to foot the bill in these lawsuits maybe we would see a change.

As I said a couple of posts ago... This would happen less if there wasn't such an animosity between the general public and police. I can imagine that it's in the back of every cops mind that each day could be their last when they suit up.
