descriptively, yes thats whats happening. i just think this was part of the plan. whether its to get people used to seeing higher price points even if they go on sale or to take up more shelf space on retailors shelves vs other brands.

i think this gets framed a lot in away that makes it look like the market is punishing nike for doing too much, and despite word of SOME models being made in less quantities, all things point to nike setting itself up to make more shoes mores quickly (and sustainably) moving forward.

for the most part, nike knows when they have a hit on their hands and they know when something is being made that will most likely move via discount. all part of the plan

I do wonder if the massive discounts are making Nike/JB slow down releases though. Like they cancelled a bunch of retro releases this year so it makes me wonder if they realize that they are flooding the market, even if their endgame is to increase retail prices across the board, as you mentioned.

its really hard to say. nikes got a solid model because a huge bulk of their money is already made distributing to retailers which means anything they sell themselves even at a discount is a win. and like i mentioned earlier, theyre also working on the front end to be able to make more shoes, more quickly, and cheaper (to them).

theyre also mixing it up with releases that soley go through retailers which guarantees sold pairs on their end as well.

Yeah but why all the cancellations? Something in terms of release strategy is not going to plan. Was surprised they cancelled the Olive 1s that were supposed to drop in the Fall since those seemed like they would be popular.

Cancellations or push outs? So many things can change based on wanting a to hit a new revenue goal or hiccups in manufacturing.

I still haven’t heard a good reason why they butchered the OG Air Jordan 1 lows… The 2015-2016 lows had the additional lacehole and a far better swoosh. I don’t understand why they butchered the design and then are throwing great OG High derived cws on it… It’s one of the weirdest things I’ve seen the brand ever do lol

. I am trying to hold out for the official drop which is supposed to be May 11th as opposed to grabbing them now on GOAT. They are $146 (plus $14.95 shipping) in my size 9.5. SNKRS has two other shoes with May 10th drop, so they should be on there shortly.

Never had a pair of Shadows, so I'm happy to have at least the lows in my collection. Overall the quality is pretty nice, the leather on the toebox could be better, though.

Beats me. They def are going to release as an 85 cut eventually though. Especially considering we're getting the Royal 85 lows next year.

Nah people will cop now and cop again in 3 to 4 years when they drop as 85s.

This is an easy way for Nike to double dip. They did the same with the Breds, Royals, and shadows before the remasters.

Why would anyone cop now if this is the case?

Seems stupid for anyone to buy these inferior/butchered Shadows if they’re just going to release them properly as 85s in a few years. Seems like a lot of people are about to buy fools gold with these non-85 lows that are still releasing.

I actually had those but I ended up selling em because I couldnt get into the mystic navy color I felt both colors clashed too much since the blue was very dark next to the black.

I don't hate the OG low as much as others personally. I get the mini swoosh being annoying but I got into lows late and I'm gonna wanna wear a shadow option sooner than later. At sale prices the shadows are personally a no brainier.

Yeah that’s true, I guess I just hate how they somehow made the OG AJ 1 lows worse than the last batch of 2016s by removing the lacehole and making the swoosh worse.

Makes me wonder if it was intentionally done to distinguish them from the 85 lows.
