Upcoming Honda Civic Type-R to be better than the almighty NSX Type-R

Honda has made some serious performance machinery over the course of its history, but few products have been as hotly anticipated as the upcoming new Civic Type R. Following a deep and proud history of Type R Hondas, the latest Japanese hot hatch is continuing its long striptease at the Paris Motor Show this week. But before it does, Honda has released this video clip featuring project leader Suehiro Hasshi – and he has some bold claims to make.

For one, he says it'll be the best Type R yet – and that's quite a statement considering some of its predecessors, including the almighty NSX Type R. Hasshi-san also reiterates Honda's aim of snatching the front-drive lap record at the Nürburgring away from the likes of Renault and Seat, and reports that the Honda team is on track to chew every bit it's biting off. In short, the new Civic Type R ought to be sensational.

:wow: That's a hell of a statement. The NSX Type-R was known as the holy grail of Type-R cars in Japan, and apparently this new turbocharged 2.0L powered Civic Type-R will be coming for the Type-R throne.

Apparently so. Honda is already talking about taking home the record for FWD cars at the Nurburgring. That's nothing to laugh at. I see where you're coming from though, MR vs FF, that's why it's surprising to me that Honda would say it. If it's all true then the Civic Type-R is going to be a problem.

Is it the same as that hatcback blue looking joint? Looks nice, 280hp. Probably wont come stateside, if it does though...

Being fastest ff around the ring is cool and all... The nsx r ring time is 8:03... The fastest fwd is a Seat at 7:57?....

Wait what?...

Everything I ever thought was true is just a lie to me... Heart is broken...

 fwd can make for a killer cornering setup. I've seen track days where fwd cars really exploit the weaknesses in a rwd car when they start over steering in corners. MR setups are wonderful, but their propensity to snap over steer is their greatest weakness and often results in drivers getting apprehensive and taking corners with a light foot.

The 06-11 gen IMO is one of the best. No bias, I do own an 08 coupe and I think it looks tons better than any of the gens after it. I do believe my gen sedan look better than the coupes though.
