Work, Eat, sleep, Repeat.
Sometimes gym before work.

It seems like that's every weekday, every week, every year since I graduated college.

I have a job, a wonderful girlfriend, a roof over my head and a warm plate of food on the table everyday so trust me I am extremely grateful and know how blessed I am to be alive. I thank God every morning for allowing me to once again wake up to life.

But why do weeks not feel fulfilling anymore?
I have a blue collar job so by the time I get home my body literally crashes. All I can do is eat, watch a little sports/browse NT then sleep.

Next day, repeat.

Weekends are obviously a little more enjoyable with the freedom to roam, take little trips, and enjoy yourself but they end so quickly they're so quickly forgotten.

My question to you fellow 9-5 workers, how do you guys enjoy your weekdays if your working such a tiring schedule?

Life's too short to ONLY enjoy the weekends.

How do we make work days more fulfilling?
5 out of every 7 days of our life can't just be robotic work routines for the rest of our lives, can it?

work is a lot easier when you find it interesting and fulfilling, try taking time to visit or observe what the end goal of your job is to remind yourself why you are doing what you do (that is if you got into your job because of personal interest and not just money)

I'm a big fan of basketball so I catch a bunch of Hawks games in person during the week.

I hoop year round also.

I REALLY love ball tho, so I get plenty of enjoyment from that. Keeps me sane

Throw in sex, and that's about all I have time for during the week.

What do you love OP? Find out if u can fit it in after work.

If you actually loved your job then that would help immensely, but obviously that isn't the case for most people, including myself

I love fitness. I actually studied and got my personal training cert in January. I spent a few months training a few people and working out hard, it made me happy. Felt good to help people while doing something I enjoy.

But the problem is I was broke, so a job opportunity came up and I had no choice but to take it. It's a warehouse job. And with the new schedule I wasn't able to work with those people anymore, barely even have the time/energy to workout myself anymore.

I don't feel like I have a choice because student loans are hanging over my shoulder and rent in Santa Barbara is not cheap.

Basically I feel like I had to sacrifice the happiness I got from the fitness life to make a decent wage.

Had to choose money over passion, and I think it's the root of my unfulfilling weeks.

I obviously want to go back to it again, but bills have to be paid.

Working the warehouse job is like an entire 8 hour workout. Problem is, I have nothing left in the tank for fitness after work.

We're in very similar situations, man. Can you connect with your school's alumni network and find something different to do work wise? Can't let yourself stop now, have to keep pushing.

Keep an eye out for a new job man, one that makes you happier.

Maybe take something with a little less hours? With more time you would work on the fitness thing and try to make something out of that.

Just some suggestions.

Prayer for me is a daily 5x a day "getaway" from the daily 730-630 grind depending on project due dates it can be worse

I try to plan a vacation every 6 months

I live an hour away from my parents so going back to see them at least once a month is a blessing and truly enjoyable. Sad to see them get older and older

I went rock climbing, white water rafting, gun range, shot put shooting, paintballing with some coworkers. Try to do something new at least once a month.

Save money, make investments in stocks/ bonds/ CD's and if you play your cards right you can retire early

Learn a language. I'm currently learning. Arabic which is quite fun and challenging.

My main goal is to build homes for those who cannot afford it. My main interest is Africa die to my parents being from Nigeria. When the time is right and the knowledge I gain from the architecture firm at now presents itself, I will travel and build. Hopefully set aside some funds and start a kick starter fund as well. It might make be dead broke but I'm planning on traveling to Nigeria in April (dat dere Ebola) but documenting the materials and doing research for 2 weeks as well as seeing family.
Gotta do what makes you happy man. Even if you got 100 healthy years on this planet it will still go by in a flash. Good luck homie

You seem like one hell of a human being with those kinda goals bro, much respect. :pimp:

You're right though, if I focus on what I can give to the world more and worry less about what I can receive, I might be able to feel more fulfilled consistently.

That's an awesome way to look at things.

I Thank you for sharing so many great ideas. Serious. That was really helpful man.

you have weekends off b, you're lucky to even have those days off and not a monday then a friday.

you're lucky to work a 9-5 and not some whack graveyard shift.

boo hoo.

Brb, taking 15 credits.
Brb, doing research.
Brb, running a club.
Brb, tutor.
Brb, attend weekly workshops.
Brb, study 4-6 hrs a day.

Welcome to my life, b.

I know how you feel bro. I'm in the same boat. I'm constantly on the lookout for another job, preferably closer to home. The commute to work is a disaster and the commute home is even worse. 1 hr each way. Plug that into a 9-hr work day and its basically a 11-12 hr workday.

This can't be life. Not for the next 20+ odd years. |I

Weird but I was just thinking about this today. I sure as hell don't want to work a

9-5 for the rest of my life (which is turning into more of a 8-6 or 8-7).

Take my parents for instance. They go to work, come home, talk about work, watch tv for an hour or two, then

go to sleep.

Even my friends have become the same. They just talk about their boring jobs the whole time. What kind of life is that? There's way more stuff out there.

I have made the decision to make a living off of writing. I have a hell of an imagination so I might as well put it to use. How I'm gonna do it, I have no clue

But I'm gonna try.
