NT Corporate BROTHAS...Serious question regarding hair

This thread is for all my black men working in a corporate environment. And by corporate I actually mean "up there". A lot of people like tooting their own horns these days and claim to be working "corporate" when in all actuality they work as an admin in a dentist's office in the day, while doing 5linx or wake up now. None of that, B.

When it comes to hair, we all know that the only 'acceptable' haircut is the low cut, however you wanna flip that and maneuver it to whatever you want it to be, feel me? No braids, none of that, fam (it is 2014 after all).

My question is, is a half moon caesar looked down upon in the corporate world? It looks clean to me, looks well kept depending on how it's done. At the same time, it can look wild tacky if it's not done right. But how do the white folks in upper management view it?

Anyone can chime in, let's not turn this into a race thread.

Depends on the culture more so than anything else. Once you understand what the limits are within your culture, then you understand what you can pull off, regardless of your ethnicity.

For example, beards are acceptable at work, even for a young African America exec. Dreads? Not so much.

Just searched LinkedIn, no half-moon caesars.

The real question is, "Do I want to be the first corporate half-moon caesar?".

If the answer is "Yes!", follow your heart OP.

Like others have said, it depends on your office culture. Office culture can vary wildly, even between different divisions within the same agency.

The half moon caesar probably wouldn't fly at my job. If you think it would at yours, do you.

iight a half moon caesar might be a push

How about a normal part?

I hope this doesn't come off wrong, but if I were black in a corportate environment, I'd have the most conservative hairstyle possible. Give em zero reasons to think anything sideways about you.

Also....whats bad about a half moon caesar, or unprofessional about it?

I'm not hip to black haircut terminology, but from what i see from a google search is just a really short haircut that fades from zero at the bottom and ends with a short 2 or 3 on top?

Again, to reiterate, it all depends on the culture of you office. Usually the short answer would be not acceptable but if you really want to introduce the the Halfmoon Caesar to the corporate world then you have to ask yourself a few questions:

How long have I been working at my company?

How secure am I in my position?

Am I well respected?

Would my superiors look at me differently If I did something out of norm?

Is my office prone to gossip?

Is there clear favoritism shown towards certain individuals and do other get overlooked?

Basically evaluate where you are in the corporate ladder and proceed accordingly.
If you've been there maybe 7-12 years or more, are in a secure position like a VP, Director, Officer, a Chief Executive, etc then go for it

if you're a relatively new hire or just getting comfortable working your way up, building relationships, looking to get promoted then that may not work in your favor.

________

If you want conduct an experiment: wear a loud and obnoxious belt buckle or shoes or a tie for a while. If you notice a negative change in behavior towards you, then you have your answer

If you want to stand out, make it first be for your work ethic and dependability, then when you reach the top do whatever you feel like

a half moon? lmaoooo you goof. A ceasar is fine.

I'm still really surprised Don Lemon showed up to work with the mohawk lmao

If white boys can rock the 1960s part you can rock a part. I work in IT though so the culture is VERY laid back. I`d never work anywhere that limits me to look a certain way.

***** you a grown *** man working corporate talking about getting a half moon part or a part in general.

A) That **** hasn't been cool since high school.

B) When the last time you seen a grown man with a part? Outside paul george?

C) Just get a regular fade b. Hair is never that serious. Clean cut. Beard maybe but most of the time I don't rock one.

D) I'm a brotha in corporate.

Hope my post assists you with making a good choice

This is what I'm thinkn..it's all about your work culture bro...no need to get a fresh cut and sit around all day at work wondering what people think...

The half moon is a design in low cut hair similar to what nas or raekwon would have

I wanna get a regular part like Nas or Diddy. Probably will do it one of these days.

man I`d rock a part, I just don't have time to always have it looking sharp so I rock all even. The only hair no no for a grown man to me is a Mohawk, thats some comical character type stuff.

Not to thread jack, but didnt some guy make a thread asking about the half moon caesar, get zero replies, and then bump the thread exactly one year later lol. That was one of the funniest things i seen during my time on nt.

I think that haircut would be fine. It does depend on your corp culture. Men can't wear earrings or have facial hair in my company but haircuts aren't a big deal. I'm currently rocking a nappy baby Mandela 'fro and it's all good.

Don't get a part though. You're too old for that

an actual part is one thing

shaving in a fake part is another

do you, but people might joke about "why did he shave a fake part into his head?"
