This Is the First Weekend in America With No Saturday Morning Cartoons

I'm confused about how the FCC mandating 3 hours of educational programming per week has to do with killing off Saturday morning cartoons.

An explanation would be appreciated

The CW was the last non-cable network to broadcast animation on Saturday morning. ABC, CBS, NBC, etc, all quit with the Saturday morning cartoons years ago.

CW's animation block has been replaced with educational programming, hence the "end of an era". But like I said, people fail to realize that most of these animation blocks have not existed since when Bush was reelected

Wasn't nobody watching Yugioh Zexal on the CW  this morning

. But because of the evil FCC, children somehow aren't watching cartoons on Saturday morning anymore. This thread is just a 90s cartoon nostalgiafest

Instead of playing 30-60 minutes Monday through Thursday after school when the kids might actually watch it, they get rid of cartoons and play it all in one chunk early on Saturday morning. Now the poor kids who cant afford cable watch Family Guy and South Park, which plays in large 2 hour blocks on network TV. :smh:

I thought this was gonna be about the national go outside and play thing they did like a month or two ago.

I really can't say I care about this cuz I know there's some channel showing cartoons on Saturday mornings.

The FCC 90s rule does seem messed up but I don't know what would stop these broadcast companies from airing these educational programs at 5am.

damb famb, thats kinda sad :frown: |I :frown:

I still used to watch them sometimes, now idk how to feel. Ill pour one out for them

I still remninse from time to time. This is the GOAT Saturday Morning Cartoon Intro to me:

good good, children shouldn't be watching the television anyway

miss recess and pepper ann though...milo was that dude

A part of me just died inside scrolling through those cartoon titles in the OP. I remember every one lf them. :smh:

We're going to have to create electronic time capsules filled with 90s cartoons that will open up when our kids turn our age.

I don't know if I can live an world with future generations who don't know of duck tales.

Used to watch tgif on abc friday nights..fall asleep and watch abc in the morning. Then later on would watch Snick on nickelodeon. Nickelodeon was goat af back then

When I think about it only thing I wish these cartoons would do is have series finales. I don't remember any for most of them. Like Recess for example, give me a graduation ep or at least end of the year and summer is about to start.

I guess Cartoon Network was taken off air today

They cancelled  the Toonami we once knew a long time ago; Thats when they should of just taken Cartoon Network off air (Regular Show, Adventure Time still dope though)

Lowkey it's a good thing; cartoons made for this generation of kids are straight poo.
I been planning to show my kids the cartoons I grew up on. I don't care if they can't relate to their friends at school

You bugging.

CN been showing cartoons 24/7. Toonami was usually an after school thing before they canceled it and brought it to weekends and I assumed it got canceled again cuz nobody was watching it.

I'll never forget when I was younger and I turned to NBC expecting Saturday morning cartoons at 8am. I was about 8. Right then I knew it wouldn't be the same. Innocence was lost a long time ago...
