Houston Rockets Thread - Preseason vs Spurs (Friday)

Brewdebaker has been playing out of his mind since being traded to the Rockets & it's awesome

Tough loss tonight, but Houston still needs time to build chemistry with all the new faces in town.

U didnt notice that in LA? Dude is the epitome of dry and stoic

ha, yea i noticed it here even, when he was our #1 guy for that short stint. I may or may not be looking into it too much, but the body language seems more negative as far as reaction to certain situations. its w/e though
Thats just how Ariza is. I assumed it was just a laidback LA/California thing.. Harden is kinda like that too

Dude is super casual and understated about everything. I've only seen him visibly fired up one time in the past two years (srs), it was in the Bulls series when he hit a three at the end of Game 1. Only time. He's a humble, good dude though and hardworking, his shot is just in a slump right now.

Yesterday's game smh smh. Smith needs to come off the bench, and the rotation needs to expand. There's no reason why Canaan and Johnson shouldn't be getting minutes. If Terry isn't hitting threes, he's useless and just taking minutes from Canaan

Papanikalou went from a rotation player to a corpse in the bench after we acquired brewer and smith. McHale is weird like that

McHale's rotations will forever be a mystery. I really want Josh Smith to come off the bench, it sucks that they had to promise him a starting role :rolleyes

I think Josh is actually better served to come in with that second unit and bet the focal point, but we'll see what happens because right now that starting unit with him doesn't look too good. I understand that it's probably going to take awhile for everyone to mesh with the new additions.

I don't have much of a problem with Josh starting. If Mchale can get him to focus on rebounding, defense, and being the 3rd option on offense he's by far the Rockets' best 4 man. I completely agree on the rotations. This roster has sooooo many guys who can legit contribute (and have shown it) its baffling why Mchale chains those guys to the bench.

Why the hell does that happen?? Its so agonizing to watch. This team is pretty deep, yet the talent here rarely shines because of McHale. There has to be done assistants that see the same.

Minus guys simply missing shots, McHale stinks so much man, these rotations make me sick. He really is NBA Kubiak.

^:smh: :smh:

47-45 Rockets in such an underwhelming game. Smith is not doing much, Pap and Canaan are still getting no minutes, and Ariza is still is :x :x :x on offense. This has to turn around man, and I'm not only talking about in tonight's game.

Got the win, but for like 2 and a half quarters, it was slow, sloppy, and just all out inept ball. Thankfully the W came though. Smith got some boards, blocks and made some great passes, Harden put the team on his back, and Bev was the one who got everybody going in the second half. D-Mo and Brewer brought the energy early one, and that was much appreciated.

Have a rough schedule coming up....yikes....look at those road games :x Have to really fight get quite a few of those. Oh well, let's do it. Have fun with whatever y'all are doing for New Year's, and stay safe folks

Smith should of never been giving the starting spot so early. I know he was adamant that he wanted to start wherever he went but D-Mo has been playing  well and Smith is still trying to find his footing.

At N.O. tonight, and i very well do believe this could end up being a tough game. Have to figure out some consistency as far as chemistry goes. Can't have stalling possessions, and guys just chucking 3s and running the other direction. Also have to limit turnovers, play good perimeter D, and just flat out bringing hustle, especially in regards to rebounding.

I take back everything I said about Josh Smith. He got the starters job way too early and he doesn't mesh with the starting unit. On the four onto transition he sank to the wing and ended up missing at three, instead of continuing to the rim and potentially catching an alley. He hasn't shown any sign of knowing where to be after setting a screen, or playing off the ball. His defense hasn't been good enough to offset the issues we face with them offensively. Dmo should get the starting spot and Josh should have to earn his minutes off the bench. Papanikalou needs more minutes just to keep Ariza fresh. Same for Canaan with Terry.

Gotta rebound (literally and figuratively) tonight against the Heat. This western conference is way too tough to go on a slide.

Could not have had a better game than last night. Every single thing possible went right, and it HAD to. Another reason that Smith needs to come off the bench and lead the second unit, everything just moves so much smoother. I know the chemistry isn't there yet, but we really don't have time to fuse him in the starters lineup and wait, but you could go from 4th seed to 7th in no time. That's exactly the type of game the Rockets needed after that misery from the other night. I really wish they could consistently have games like that.
