Word? Whats causing the Steph slide down to fourth for you?

The media votes...and there's been a HUGE media push for Westbrook lately. ESPN brings it up everyday. Lebron is very quietly entering Lebron mode and the Cavs are very likely getting ready to push themselves right into that #1 seed. It's not that Curry hasn't played himself out of it...Russ and Bron just have a stronger momentum that's putting them in a bigger spotlight right now.
The fact that Harden has this team competing for 2nd in the West with Dwight only playing in 32 of those 60 games is unbelievable. No one can say they expected Houston to be #3 in the West with the opportunity to take the 2nd seed WITHOUT Dwight. Hell, I'm sure most people did not think Houston would be a top 3 seed with both players healthy considering how tough the West is.

I think it says a lot about how Harden has improved his game overall and I think he definitely deserves a little more consideration than Curry. Considering the numbers are pretty damn close between the 2, neither of them are clear cut favorites. Westbrook's case is still pending, but I just love what he's doing right now on the court. Will it last til the end of the season? Maybe, maybe not. You can make the same argument for Russ in regards to Durant missing so many games. If Russ keeps putting together these types of performances and can move OKC up a little more in the standings, he definitely needs to be in heavy consideration.
The Rockets aren't that far off from dropping to the 7th seed

Damn injuries

Harden has the best balance between team and individual success. Curry is leaning more towards team success (but to be clear, he's been awesome) and Westbrook is more individual (they're a game out of the playoffs!).

A great way to put it.

Basically.

I'd put the "balanced" label on Bron too.

You can't be the best player on an 8th seed and win the MVP, Westbrook has no shot

You shouldn't be able to only play in 22 games and make the all-star team, but it happened.

Anything is possible.

You have to look at history. The worst team ever of an MVP winner won 50 games. And that MVP winner was a young Michael Jordan who destroyed the NBA averaging 35 points

Kareem won it with his team going 40-42.

That's not recent history...but it says that there are anomalies for these types of things.

Good summary. Since it's an individual award, I've got Beard 1 and Russ 2.

Thunder get to 50 wins though, still I think Russ has a real shot at it, that would have them closing the year 16-5 down the stretch, damn I wish he could have got those games vs PHX and Portland, 12-3 since Feb is excellent though.

Chill, we just lost close back to backs against two of the best teams in the league. (one of said games without our star) This week is one of our toughest weeks all year. @ 7th seed

Yall not watching these Rockets out here.

If OKC finishes up the season with a great record (compared to what it was without Westbrook) and Russ continues these type of performances, he will have a legit shot. What he's doing right now is considered history. There's always a chance of Durant coming back and causing Russ to tune it down a little bit, though.

you realize how big of a hole okc was in with westbrook and Durant out?
Don't think the media cares about that when it comes to voting. You can't say "oh...well they got a raw deal with injuries...so that should help his case".

There's no sympathy voting.

Not recent history at all, every MVP winner since 1982 had at least 61 percent winning percentage.
