Brian Shaw shouldn't have been a head coach in the first place. Dude came to Denver and essentially mucked up a winning (Regular season winner) franchise.
Shaw had problems from the beginning ...he tried to come in n change almost everything that G Karl had done to make them a consistent winning team n alotta the players wasn't having it

Steve Francis should've been gotten himself together already. Even Iverson finally came to terms with where he was

Kobe wanted Shaw bad. He was heated when they didn't get him lol.

Shaw is a stand up guy though. Real good man. Unfortunatley, not a great coach. Wish him nothing but the best.

Shaw as an assistant still gets lots of love though. All those guys can't be wrong. So I'd welcome him in NY without a problem, as long as he knows Fish is running the show.

Russell Westbrook expected to play tonight vs Sixers after undergoing facial surgery. (via ESPN & media reports)

Is it really surgery when they just have to bang out the dent in your metal frame and reboot your circuits?

all these triangle offence coach are overrated because of their connection to Phil Jackson

Brian Shaw failed

Kurt Rambis failed

Derek Fisher tbd

The Triangle Offense isn't some magic offense that can make bad teams good. Shaw didn't even run the triangle, and Kurt and Derek both inherited some pretty bad teams.

Running the triangle requires a lot, from a roster make up perspective. To put it bluntly, you need a player that is incredibly lethal, that demands a double team and then you have to have him surrounded by shooters and above average basketball players. At the end of the day, if you don't have those two components, you have a bunch of players running useless routes, sequences, and series and as a result you end up against the Shot clock settling for Long 2's. This is why the Knicks take the most midrange jumpshots in the NBA this year.

Even going back to Phil's Chicago days, none of his assistants have had much success on their own.

Jim Cleamons failed as a head coach, as did Bill Cartright, although he didn't have much of a chance.

What about Steve Kerr?

There are outliers and exceptions to everything. Although he does indeed have some Triangle sequences into what he does with GSW. But look at the team he inherited, it would be pretty hard to not be a good coach with that bunch. Maybe not as elite as they have been this year, but the general consensus on this team was that they were already pretty good.

Look at the teams that PJ's disciples have inherited, those teams were not supposed to be very good, and they weren't. As a coach, in most cases you really can only go as far as your roster takes you. Which is why I always say coaching has a marginal effect, but that's another story for another time.

in addition to coaching I think parenting also has a marginal effect. Doesn't really matter who raises your kids, they're going to be dopeheads regardless
