2004 and 2015

Why so much hate for the JJ & Josh Smith era Hawks? They were good for 50 wins and a 2nd round appearance. Team got so much hate from the media. Especially from Chuck.

That team was so fun to watch. The First playoff game I've ever been to was '08 against the celtics in that 7 game series. Crazy in there.

Always liked the Hawks b/c of that.

The Cavs and Thunder really had National TV games yesterday and have another one today.

Can't wake up without random, but reasonable trades happening . I think I've given up on Lamb. I thought dude was gon be solid but seems like he's settled into a role as a journeyman.

Lopez for a season or 2 is a nice move, definitely not long term, ol boy would break his wrist while signing the contract

I'm fine with Waiters. He is a chuck certainly, but he plays D and has a confident/aggressive/alpha type personality; need more of those rather than the Jeremy Lamb "I miss one shot then go into a 2 month long period" types.

We only gave up a 1st rd pick to get him oh and Lance Thomas, good chance whoever we would draft with said pick won't be as good as him and certainly in the short term which everything Thunder has to revolve around quick turnaround into success before KD's fa in 2016 at this point. I want NO PARTS of Lopez though, I wouldn't even do him for Perk alone (don't know why the TNT graphic kept leaving Perk out, no way the trade works without him) much less give up a Reggie Jackson although last night's version just had Grant Jerrett and Jeremy Lamb. I still like Lamb's ability to run backup pg essentially and sometimes he plays decent at home I guess.

But Lopez, 32 million left on his contract over the next 2 seasons, perpetually injured, slow, doesn't rebound or defend or pass at high level, just a meh acquisition IMO.

We were scared to go far into the tax for Harden but now we do for Dion Waiters? And he makes another 5+ mil next season. Don't want to draft an actual player at 29 like KJ McDaniels because that would have costed up around 950k, so we draft scrub juice Josh Huestis to assign him to the D League and only pay him 25k, then sign Lance Thomas for 950k as well as Sebastian Telfair. Whut?

And of course we are going to lose Reggie Jackson this summer, just hope we get a good return for him.

@HowardBeck: Like @rick_bonnell, I'm hearing that 3-way deal involving Brook Lopez is dead/dormant. Really, never made much sense for Nets.

Brook Lopez in OKC is a good look to me. Dion not so much.... Always imagined them with a guy like Afflalo at SG giving them success. We'll see. I don't have any doubt that they'll start getting wins tho and be in the playoffs at like the 5th or 6th seed.

There's only like 3players in league like that, being Affialo, Matthews and Batum. And blazers got two of them, theirs not much lockdown defenders that can shoot like that left after those 3.

Considering OKC got Waiters for nothing....was it really that bad of a move?

It was a low risk / high reward move.

If it works out....great. If it doesn't...it doesn't. It's not like they have anything to regret cause they didn't give anyone up.

All very true, i just think it was a lateral move. I dont really think it addressed a need. There's no doubt he's talented, just not that great of a NBA player.

@Chris_Broussard: Sources: Nets still talking with OKC about possibly sending Brook Lopez there in what will amount to virtually salary dump.

Kahn signed restricted FA at the time Batum to a $55 million offer sheet a couple years ago. Portland matched.

@HowardBeck: Another important point re "cost savings" as incentive: There's a decent chance Lopez opts out this summer anyway.

@HowardBeck: Lopez signed for $16.7mil in 2015-16. Given health issues, could opt out and seek longer deal to lock in security before foot flares up.

@ChrisMannixSI: Nets would be out of their minds to give Brook Lopez away for nothing. For all the issues he has had, he is still a reliable scoring center.
